Default intergrated trailer brake

I was at the iowa state fair last week and saw the 2010 ram heavyduty on display and noticed that it had an integrated trailer brake controller just above the park brake release handle so I went to look in the halfton truck on display and it has a little cubby hole above the park brake handle. looked to me like you could pop out that little cubby and replace it with the brake controller that was in the heavyduty truck. I asked the people who were at the tent about doing this on a 09 1500 and none of them knew a thing. has anyone else looked into this at all....is it even possible...it looks like it could be done since the new heavyduty ram has the exact same interior as the 09 halfton.

Yea someone on here has done that. I saw they pic they displayed, and to me it looks like it sticks out too much, but that could be just from the pic. My shifter is on the floor, so I mounted my brake control just to the left of it, below my steering wheel.

If you mount it in the cubby hole, you have to let it hang out to make the controls accessable. And to me that just doesn't look right. No way around it as most all aftermarket controllers have the emergency on the bottom.

I did talk to 2 dealers about buying the 2010 parts as an upgrade. The emergency lever is on the front of them so that is how they get it to fit flush. But he said the info that they had from Dodge said it would not be available as an upgrade due to the factory version being tied into the anti-sway and brake computer. But they also said to check back as that possibly could change. So I'm just mounting mine on the right above the gas pedal which was also pictured on here I believe. Not as clean but I don't see any other good option. Sounds like where Oyen24 mounted his.

no I am talking about the factory one in the 2010 2500/3500 trucks. It replaces the cubby hole and sits flush. I was just trying to see if anyone had any info about when we will be abel to buy that part for our trucks.
Here is a picture of it...it is halfway down the page.

That's exactly what I was refering to when I had asked the dealer about parts. The 1500 gets the same control for 2010. So far it is not going to be available as an add on due to the way it is integrated into the truck's sytems. At least that is what the info they had so far says.

Wow it would be nice to have this unit, even if not a direct connection I am sure it could be wired in without too much hassle. Heck I put a 96 3.6 into my 75 911 without too much hassle.

Wow...that looks nice. Wish this was available for '09 !!! Oh well, the install of my P3 was very simple with the wiring adapter. Finding a good spot to mount it was the hard part... but I ended up putting it on the right side dash panel on two exisiting screws by my right leg.

It looks nice integrated into the dash yes and for some it may be an important feature. However to me a brake controller is not a big deal and wouldn’t sway me at all in a purchase decision. I suspect the price of this factoey option could be a lot higher than just adding one yourself later, they are super easy to install anyway.
