(I did see a truck with a roll on application before but not sure if it was Herculiner...it was very bad) How thick does it actually apply? I just got the Rhino a couple weeks ago. I drove about 50 miles to another dealer as the local guy was charging way too much. The guy did it in 2 hours and charged me $400 OTD which was $225+ cheaper than the local dealer and $90+ cheaper than the Line-X guy. He was also impressed with the Ram Boxes as he had never seen them prior. He did great work and it is my second Rhino.

Keep us posted on the use and durability of the Herculiner. May use it next time if it holds up.
I spent 4-5 hours on it. The longest part was sanding, cleaning, sanding, cleaning, and cleaning. Preparation is everything. It is about 1/8" thick and some parts, due to my poor skills, are thicker.

Like Oldjeep said, it is very easy to put another coat on in a few years. It also fades a little over time, but mine will be under a bed cover.

As to the blotches, there are parts that are thicker than others, but that is my fault, not the products. I should have rolled it instead of brushed it.

Overall, it should get the job done.

I've done a lot of this with my Jeeps too. I've done a few trucks too. Those pics will look blotchy while it's drying. Roll on you can get an uneven application but those pics looked like it was drying still. I use a spray gun and it's a lot easier and comes out better. Don't worry if you haven't used a gun before. It's pretty easy and forgiving. Just practice first on something and make sure you tape well. I don't use herculiner anymore. I've gone with durabak because of UV protection. Without UV prot. it gets chalky looking and faded black after a year. The other thing with both products is that it chips easily. It will wear from your feet too. It's so thin. I was thinking about going with Al's Liner since it's a mixed liner application but it doesn't look like you get the thickness of the Line-x. I wish they would make a DIY liner that matches the thickness of line-x.

You can spray this stuff? It is not too thick?

I have nothing against the other brands, its just the price.

The fading part is true, but mine will be covered with a tonneau. The good thing is another quart is cheap and I can keep adding coats myself.

Yeah you can spray it with an undercoating gun. It works very well. A lot of people like the raptor kit because it's all in one and seems to be the most durable DIY bedliner. I heard Herculiner now makes a UV protector with theirs. The only problem to date is achieving thickness that I would like because I throw some stuff in the back that would mess it up.

What do you throw in your bed that abuses it so bad?

I use mine for moving and travel. One day I am going to use it for engines, rear ends, transmissions, etc when I restore my Dodge Dart. I really hope it lasts until then.

Shovels, pitch forks, weed eaters, blowers, etc. I have a landscaping company and we did our chevy pickup a year ago and it's all scratched. It's an old pickup so I don't care. However, I don't want my new ram to get messed up.

I am sure that none of the spray liners are going to work for you, especially if you start to throw pitch forks and other items like that. It's just a liner, I suggest you line the bottom with the herculiner then install a bedliner.
