Default No hitch? I need a pic!

I found 30 minutes today and thought I am going to take off my hitch. If I ever need it I will just put it back on.

Anyhow, I started then realized if I pull this thing out my bumper will not be tied to the frame anymore. So obviously I need a bracket. See attached pic. The circle is where the hitch attaches to the bumper bracket, then the hitch attaches to the frame as you can see. If you could take a pic of the same spot on your truck I can print and take to the dealer with me so I know I am asking for the right stuff.

The only thing I may ever pull is a trailer with a car on it. The hitch will eventually start to rust and look bad. As I said, if I need it I will put it back on.

If I was going to pull serious stuff I would not have bought the 1500!

just get teh same peice without the hitch. I changed mine when I got into a wreck, you can order the reinforncment with or without the hitch, the add on kit was like 100.00 and teh differnce was only 4o dollars between the 2 and now I ahve a welded one . only thing I made out on after egtting rearended, was happy they totaled teh Chevy that hit me!

I realized that fairly fast in the process, although I did leave 4 bolts out for now, not hurting it as long as I am not pulling anything. Also thought about the trade thing, but I want to keep my hitch in the event I do need to tow. You can never tell when I may be hauling home some old pile of crap car.

You should do the trade and then use the piece that bolts on to that would be a lot easier to do. When I boight my truck it had just the bar told them I wanted the class IV hitch showed up to pick up the truck and they had the bolt on piece on made them replace the entire bar with the welded hitch. If you can get someone to trade the you can get the bolt on piece from the ebay for like $80 I think. Here is the link to Mopar Accessory site they have the instructions there as well.

Why bother? If all he plans on towing is a little car trailer, just stick a ball on the bumper - it's rated for 5K lbs all by itself.
