Default To My Gig or NOT!

I just picked up my new Crew Cab Big Horn tonight and need to start shopping for Vehicle Nav and entertainment.

Is the My gig worth it or should I look for an aftermarket system?

I was thinking of a Clarion NX409 Navigation head unit, an aftermarket overhead video screen and a back up camera. And of course the steering wheel control interface.

OR should I save up and look into ebaying a my gig system??

You are looking at HALF the money with aftermarket stuff

Thoughts? concerns?

The my gig unit is ok, not the best that I have used, but I like the factory look. If you go with a double din then you would have to cut up some of your dash. I went on the crutchfield site and they have alot of units that work with our trucks, read all the pros and cons, some units are very slow to start up and load.

i thought our radio were double din? When you go on the crutch field site it pulls up this radio as fitting?

Clarion NX409 Multimedia navigation system.

IF I get the mygig nav headunit I think that is the RER, So i get the ipod control? what about the Sirius radio that is already in my truck? AND last but not least, does the RER Nav unit play the DVD it self? What kind of output is on the RER for DVD player hook up? I just want to buy an aftermarket overhead monitor! I just did not want to be stuck buying the factory DODGE overhead DVD player when you can get an overhead monito for 200 to 300 bucks!
Please help!

I found this.

It looks like the trimming is behind the dash. I dont mind that. It seems the factory dash fits an aftermarket double din radio just fine.

Can someone confirm. I dont mind trimming "behind the scenes" LOL

Thank you

WOW.. SO MANY OPTIONS

I am seeing a I need a HIGH speed RER. I can get this with a lock pic and not be to out of line with price. I then can add my own aftermarket rear camera and over head monitor of my choice for movies for the kids...it looks like and have a near OEM install..

By the time I buy all the adapters and crap for the aftermaket radio I could have got a My GIG for a little more and had a factory head unit install...

am I correct??

I am liking this route... This way the dash will be factory...

Is this my best option?

Ya the RER already has bluetooth built in and as far as I know satellite, that ipod connector might be an optional cable. Good luck, if you get lockpick like it sounds you are you wont have to have the dealer get the bluetooth and whatever else working.

do i need to change to mirror or something to add bluetooth?? no microphone?? or is it built into the RER?..

I think I will go the lock pick route... I wanted to avoid the EXPENSIVE factory DVD screen...this will allow me to just add a rear monitor!heaper

they want like 1600.00 for a Dodge DVD player.. I can get a lock pick for like 300.00.. and a decent over head monitor for 200.00 and aftermarket rear camera..ALOT cheaper!
