There is noproblem with there transmoissions.I have had a 1998,2001,2003 hemi,2005 hemi, and i am currently driving a 2008 hemi never had a trans problem on any of them.I tow a 7,500 pound travel trailer all the time in the summer and that is dry weight. So add in the water, luggage, people and beer.lol.you have close to 9000 lbs.Never have i had a problem with a transmission. So unless you are really beating on the thing you will be fine.I have always taken care of my truck so maybe that it why they last.

Not failure, but certainly a transmission PROBLEM

I can give you more if you want, but this should be enough to give you an idea that your statement that there are NO PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRANSMISSIONS is not exactly a factual statement. Possibly you have not had issues with them, but statistically they have more issues than what would be considered normal by many people (myself included). When the dealer even comments about the issue, I think there is more than just a isolated case of failure before the expected service life of the transmission.

do all 2009s have the lifetime powertrain warranty? My buddy wants to buy a truck like mine and found a few 2009s left and the one dealer tried telling him the life time warranty ended at the end of Sept? Why would they say that? I think they are off their rockers...

I know my manual and all my books say lifetime warranty. I bought mine 9/30/09..

I started looking through the reported transmission problems and was only finding problems with the 46 RE transmission so I searched for the 545 RFE that is is used now with 4.7 and hemi and there are only a handful of problems with the 545 RFE transmission. Nothing that is built by man is bulletproof but I would say that this transmission is not having huge problems from the info provided. Now the older transmissions were prone to some problems but they have had this 545 RFE for a number of years and I feel it is a very reliable transmission. If you have a lot of 545 RFE problems to show I would be interested to see them but from what I saw above it is a problem with a couple of different older transmissions.

I too have owned many dodge trucks and the only time I had a problem was with my 92 dodge dakota. The overdrive unit failed then took the trans with it. Both of the 4x4 dodges I owned had transfer case problems but no problem with the transmission. The transfer case problems were my fault. You shouldn't tow a fully loaded concrete truck out of the mud. Other than that, I've had no problems. Does that mean there never were any, nope, but I wouldn't think twice about my transmission going out lifetime warranty or not. I do perform maintenance on my tranny's every 25-30k miles though. Used to do it myself but now have it done at the local oil change place because they can flush it out including the cooler and TC, then they replace the filter and top off the pan. $100 and worth every penny. Jeff.

Give it time. The new trannys still have some of the same design issues that created problems and you will see a higher than average repair rate on them as time goes by. Do the math- If Chrysler dropped the lifetime warranty, but also lowered the MSRP by what I consider to be a pretty decent amount, I think the manufacturer is counting on less in terms of payouts for warranty repairs.

I'm not too concerned about the lifetime warranty, being that I don't keep a vehicle longer than 5 or 6 years. I traded in an 04 Nissan Titan that I replace 4 rear ends in. The warranty just expired so I dumped it for the new RAM.

I guess it depends on everyone's personal situation. It sounds like you would have kept the Titan had the warranty not expired, which is more proof the warranty is a worthwhile item. In my case my personal vehicles are 1,3,8, 9,13, and 47 years old (although the last 2 I did not buy new). I tend to keep my vehicles, but for many who trade more often it might be less of a concern. On the other hand, someone who uses their ram and really piles on the mileage would certainly benefit from the lifetime warranty. I have seen many vehicles that run up 40-80K miles a year. For those people the warranty would be very attractive.

I usually keep mine 4 years, but they usually have over 100K on them by that time - so I wouldn't have bought with only the substandard 3/36 warranty that Dodges usually have. I'll have 36 K on mine in under 1.5 years.

The 3 Yr/36,000 bumper to bumper was the same for 09 and 10. 09 had a lifetime powertrain and they reduced that to 5yr/100,000 mile for 2010. I normally put 8-10,000 miles per year. A few friends ahve Dodge 1500 and 2500's. None of them have had any problems and they do alot of towing. I'm hoping for the same experience.
