Daytime running lights
I installed daytime running lights on the Ford I traded in on my Ram 1500. Where can I get the lights for my new truck?
They must be out there. I see it's an option for fleet trucks.
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks,
Jack

They all say 2500 but i believe they work for the 1500 the only reason they say 2500 is because they usually are not ordered for 1500 because they are not towing trucks.
The 2nd gen trucks have all the holes underneath the headliner. you just have to drill the hole all the way threw and pop them in.
You may want to look to see if the holes are on the 4th gen

Not sure if your looking for "daytime running lights" or "clearance lights"... The lights that go above the cab are "clearance lights" and "daytime running lights" is a program in the computer that keeps your high beams on a low wattage on during the day... Please specify what information your looking for...
I am not looking for clearance lights.
I want to keep my headlights on in the daytime for safety reasons.
My Ford required a relay and and resister to drop the voltage to the lights to 75% in order not to burn them out.
I understand the Dodge system drops the voltage to 50%
Thats about all I know at this time.
Thanks,
Jack

Sounds like it's all software, talk to the dealer and see if they can program you TIPM for drl operation.
From the FSM:
DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS
Vehicles manufactured for sale in Canada illuminate the high beam filament of both headlamps at a reduced intensity when the engine is running, the parking brake is released and the exterior lamps are turned OFF. The TIPM must be programmed appropriately for this feature to be enabled. Once enabled, anytime the TIPM receives electronic messages over the CAN data bus from the PCM indicating the engine is running and from the EMIC indicating the status of the headlamp switch exterior lighting input is OFF and that the parking brake is released, the TIPM provides a pulse width modulated voltage output to the proper headlamp bulb filaments through the right and left high beam feed circuits to produce illumination at a reduced intensity.

Yes, I saw it as an option in the starscan tool, but i believe once it's on, it cannot be removed, unless that's Canada Only models, i'm not sure as I am in Canada... oldjeep is right though, talk to your dealer, and hopefully they'll be able to turn it on for you without charging you too much money....

I had mine turned on and then off a few day later. It was a simple hook up to starscan and I had it done for no charge while at the dealer for a flash. The reason I had them turned off was that when the daytime lights are on and you use the turn signal, the daytime light on the side the turn signal is on turns off while the signal flashes. It drove me nuts.
Thats what I said, but after driving around I have seen other cars and trucks that do the same thing. Dealer tech claims this is normal operation for our trucks
