Question High Idle Question!!

I have a question for you guys. In the mornings when I first start my truck I have a bit of a high idle 1,250-1,300 it drops after about min or less down to about 900. Do you guys have this with your trucks also or ? I'm not worried about it but, don't want to put it in gear at that high of a idle either. If I run to the store it will start back up fine around 600 which is normal for mine but if it sits from like 09 when I get to work then start it at 1130 when I goto lunch it will do it again. Hasn't been that cold out and this summer I noticed it once and awhile. Thanks guys for any info on this.

Number of reasons why it's programmed that way on cold starts. Totally normal, every vehicle I've ever owned has done it when it starts getting cool out.

Same as the old days like when you had a choke but this is computer controlled. You should hear my kids Avenger you would think it is gonna blow up, supposedly the way it is. Just does it on my RAM too for different times depending on how cold it is.

Mine has done it since I bought it in Feb. If its noon and 95 degrees it does it. Its does it everytime on what I would call a cold start even if its hot outside.

Thats crazy huh, you'd think with EFI this wouldn't happen but I feel better now that I'm not the only one.

Yup, totally normal. I like the sound of the higher idle as I walk up to it. I also like the sound of it starting up.

I would be worried if it does it for more than like 30 seconds or so maybe less, never timed it.
