Thinking about selling my truck.
So, I traded the truck. They gave me 26,500$ for it. I got a new 2009 Nissan Versa. I have a payment of 240$ a month compared to 550$ a month. I also can get at least 35 mpg highway in it. So, I am saving 310$ a month by not having the truck. It has a 3/36 everything and 5/60 powertrain warranty. For the next 2 years, I anticipate putting 15K a year on my vehicle.
Is getting rid of my truck what I wanted? Hell no!
Does it get me out of debt quicker? YES! By getting this car, I dumped 15K$ off of my total debt and over the next three years I will save 11k$ in gas and payments. I want to get in a house more than having a really nice truck. Before anyone says it, I was going to pay 14K$ in interest on the truck vs. 4k$ on this car.
By getting a lower payment and better gas mileage, I can put the savings onto a credit card and pay it off a lot quicker. Once it is paid off, then I can pay off other stuff quicker, etc, etc.
I got a really good deal when I got the truck and I was able to get a really good deal on the Versa. I mean, they made an offer and then dropped another 1000$ off. So in the end they moved 4100$ for a car they were asking 11,900$ for.
As far as a beater, I thought about it, but then if it broke I could spend the years worth of savings fixing it. I also thought about driving the wifey's car, but it only gets 20 mpg. The 550$ payment is what was killing me.
I have a service manual, a set of almost new HID fogs with a relay, and a set of Rain Ex windshield wipers that are brand new that I need to get rid of. If you want something, PM me.
I will still be around, but I am moving on to other forums now.

I used the truck as a truck about one out of every thirty times I drove it.
We really miss the center console though. It made a great changing table. My wife was also able to jump in the back between the two car seats and nurse our 11 week old girl.
Again, I really didn't want to get rid of it. We eventually want to get a camper and are going to go with another Dodge for sure, but that won't be until after we buy a house and restore my 1971 Dodge Dart. So for now, a Versa with no power windows and door locks will be fine since it is saving us a ton of money.
I have 90 miles on it and the gas gauge barely moved. It has a 12 gallon tank! I think that is awesome.

Gotta do what you gotta do, I always heard the story about my dad having to sell his 55 chevy bel air he use to drag race around west miami in the early 60s to buy a refrigerator after getting married, I'm sure it hurt. American made car would of been better, but I guess you got a good deal, good luck with the house, this box of Uncle Bens for you (JK). Hey I am sure you are also saving on Insurance as well.
Interesting how a month ago the Hemi didn't have enough power for you with the torque management and so forth. Now you've gone to a car with as much power as one of the cylinders on the Hemi. Always strange how things play out. I bet there's some real interesting threads on the Versa forums, at least it's mostly chicks over there.

The car only weighs 2800 pounds, so it does not need that much HP. Besides, I am about to start training as a pilot in the Navy, so who cares about what I drive!
The Versa forums are full of kids and cheap people. I don't think I am going to spend much time there.
hey man. your doing what you gotta do. i reluctantly let the wife start driving my ram just recently. we had 3 vehicles. but the jeep was a lease, turned it back in. in the current economy i did not or could not justify getting another vehicle right now. so she is driving my ram, and im back to mostly driving my old ford ranger.....lol...
what are you gonna do. their are people way worse off than us....
