Default Synthetic Oil?

I believe this topic has been beaten to death, is there a consensus on which brand of synthetic to use? Castrol Syntec, Mobil One, or jobber house brand, afterall synthetic is synthetic, is there really a difference between brands other than price?

I personally like Mobil 1 cause all of our work trucks run it, and it does wonders keeping the engine clean. i would imagine castrol is good too, but me personally I would not run jobber house just because it would be on my conscious lol.

I would go w/ the one that is priced well and performs well, Pennzoil Platinum fits both criteria if you get it at wal-mart in the big jugs.

Group 3 synthetics with various strength additive pack. Then group 4 EXTENDED drain synthetics of various add packs.Big difference in price from group 3 to group 4.So YES a big difference in some oils.As stated try www.bobistheoilguy.com The requirements the Hemi is 6 and 6 oil and filters.Numerous way to do such.Normally NOT the extended drain oils but what I call the group 3 synthetics are far better priced and designed for 6/6 oil and filter service.

like you said. beaten to death. mobil 1 is good stuff. you know the number 1 point in my book? you can find it just about anywhere! so later down the road in the trucks life, if something goes wrong, feel like doin an oil change away from home you will be able to find it. jmho

in this day and age. i think all "top end" syns. are good enough for what we are doing with them. i guess if you are racing, etc. you might have to get technical..

I like Amsoil, but not at $8 or more a quart times 7 quarts! So, I went with Mobil1. Can't beat Wally World right now, $22 bucks for a 5qt jug!
