Default Predator install

To those who have the predator installed on their 09: How the HELL did you do it? My programmer LCD screen says 2003-2009, and the default software is the same version as the latest one available on the Diablo web site. I tried to install with no update, and the programmer said that I needed an update. I installed the only version on the web site I could find, which was the same version my programmer came with out of the box, and it still says that I need an update. I'm ready to say screw the whole thing and leave the truck stock.

Call Diablo, I did when I was having issues with my programmer for my Mustang, they emailed me the update to my PC, walked me through the install into my programmer then into my vehicle, you will need a USB cable to mate your PC to the programmer.Don't buy the one Diablo will try to sell you($35) go to Walmart, same thing($15) good luck..........Kevin.

follow the instructions on the site,

I had the same problem you haft to download the update program from their site

plug it into your truck and it will say you need an update

then you haft to have windows xp vista wont work nor their patch, plug your predator into your computer with program up in xp

it will autodetect your programmer then you take it to the vehicle

it says updating stock program, it takes awhile and then it updates the screen will say memory full reboot because they didnt put enough ram on the programmer for the update after you reboot or unplug and plug it back in it will work.

93 tune is awesome you cant even feel the gears shift until it hits the last gear at 100.

OK, sounds like the Diablo is a cobbled together POS that is not worth 355 cents, let alone 355 dollars. Back to Summit it goes. I don't have time to **** around with installing windows XP and playing email games with tech support.

Well, you could have got it for $300, then $25 for the cable which allows you to update the unit from the site.

With that said many tuners this early in the game (new Ram) will require you to do some kind of download. Although most tuners come with a interface cable and does not charge you extra, that to me is a bunch of crap. They sold you the tuner for a 09 without the 09 download on it so it is useless without the add on cable. If you buy from one of the Diablo dealers sometimes they will update it for you, you would need to call and ask them.

If you change your mind these are the steps. You need to do the DCX calibration update, then the 9R05

Yes, I did not appreciate driving 25 miles each way to summit only to get home and find that no cable was included. Strike 1. Then, when my programmer came out of the box with 9r05 (the latest version on the web site, the one that is supposed to work for the '09 Ram) and it still said I needed an update, that made strike 2. When I downloaded 9r05 from Diablo's web site, and it still didn't work, that made strike 3. It's back at Summit now, and I will have to think long and hard before I consider Diablo again. I was not really impressed with the tuner itself. Why the hell didn't they put all the cable connections at the same end? I had wires going everywhere, and the pathetic excuse of a 6 inch long data cable you get compounded the already annoying issue. Ridiculous.

I hear you on the Diablo is a POS, I originally had that programmer for my Mustang.Between the lack of adjustability issues( A/F) and the waiting for a update for my programmer,I sold it for half what I paid and bought the SCT/X3.As far as for my 09 Dodge Ram Hemi, If I ever get a programmer, I'll wait a couple years till they produce a programmer that won't require so much effort to get the thing to work.........Kevin.

your tuner doesnt need the 9r05 crom file it is already updated to that. you truck needs to updated with the dcx calibration which is on the diablo website ( not a part of the 9r05 file). it will say dcx calibration update. download that to the tuner. then plug into vehicle let it do its thing and your good. its easy. Diablo does have some bugs in it and they are being addressed if you read some of the forums and even the diablo forum. Just hang tight youll be happy with this eventually when it works to its full potential. I havent tried any tune other than the 93 tune and do not think i ever will. i am debating whether or not to send my stock files into a custom tuner to have all the tq mgmt taken off.

???? If you send the stock files to a tuner to get a custom tune, can you not set it back to the original stock tune if you have to take it to the dealer for some reason? it is supposed to be able to keep like 5 extra tunes... so do they just need the stock tune to modify a new one leaving the original stock tune in the programmer?? Hell, i just confused myself... lets go one sentence at a time!!!!
