OK so thats the knock sound. What does the pinging sound like. I have a funny sound during wot and am not sure if its the traction management (TM) or pinging? I have been hearing this on both the 93 and 87 tune.

Yeah we dont need engine damage from pinging on our new trucks. Unacceptable. Maybe we can get ahold of that Mike Wilson guy thats really good at tunning the Hemi and get a good deal on a group buy or something. Anyone else know of some really good tuners for the Hemi like Mike Wilson?

The sound that I hear is more of a higher pitch sound and it almost sounds like its comeing from the rear end and other times it sounds like its coming from the motor. I first noticed it after installing the air raid cai. BEFORE the diablo tune. Any input?

M15 if you get a group deal on a tune lemme know, I'm still debating going to a local dealer and dyno tuning but the prices range from $95/hr to $400. How do you gauge this? O.o

I have been running a Mike Wilson tune for a few months now and the big advantage is that he is able to take away more of the TM. Defintely a difference over the 93 tune. I have no hard numbers but there is a difference. I am taking it a step further this week and have logged some data and he will be customizing my tune based on the logged data from my trinity. I will send this forum link to Mike so he can come up with some ideas for a group buy. Not sure if he does it but it doesn't hurt to ask.

His contact info is

www.tuningsuperstore.com
email: info@tuningsuperstore.com

Here is the email I received from him a few months ago.

Hello, thank you for the inquiry for a custom tune from Tuningsuperstore.com

A custom mail-order tune file costs $75 for naturally aspirated vehicles, $125 for cams/heads/strokers on naturally aspirated vehicles and $150 for supercharged/turbocharged applications. Tunes are setup for most naturally aspirated combinations and some mild supercharged/turbocharged applications as well.

Load the Diablo tune of your choice, then follow the instructions in the attached document then send me the original backup and last tune written file as well as the following information.

Year
Make
Model
Engine
Transmission Type
Rear gear ratio
Rear tire size
Induction type-Naturally Aspirated or Forced Induction or Nitrous (horsepower level)
Air induction type
Throttle Body type and size
Intake manifold
Cylinder heads, and ported or not ported
Camshaft/camshafts duration and lift, part number if possible
Mass Air meter
Fuel injectors
Fuel pump
Exhaust manifolds/short tube headers/mid-length headers or full length headers
Off-Road or with cats
Cat-back

Then go to www.tuningsuperstore.com/customtuning and click on the buy now button that suits your application. The naturally aspirated modified button is for heads cam vehicles, or basically any naturally aspirated vehicle that is not stock besides exhaust and or a cold air kit. Once everything has been received, you will receive your custom tuned file within 48 business hours unless specified otherwise.

It is the airaid cai making that sound. I have not bought a tuner yet but noticed exactly what you said here after the airaid mxp install. I was going to have dealer look at truck at next oil change because it really did not sound like it was coming from the engine compartment and I could only hear it with the windows up. Open the drivers door when taking off and you cannot here it. I removed the airaid and put in a k&n drop in and the thing went quiet again. It may be the airaid airbox seal not sealing tight against the hood and the air gap causes the sound at part throttle because I do not see any marks on the hood insulation from the seal on top of airaid box. May try the S&B intake when they release one for the 09, that is the only other one I found that has the fender cold air vent.

So now I have a 14" mufflex that I removed cause my truck sounded like a 1975 chevy with it and an airaid mxp that I did not like the sound just sitting collecting dust.
