285's on 09 4x4 SLT CREW????
I have searched everywhere to get an answer to this question....does anyone know if a 285/70/r17 will fit on these 09 rams without a leveling kit or lift??? with stock 17" rims??? I am aware that the rim is 7 inches wide, but so was my '97 1500 sport and the 285 BFG All Terrains I had on it barely rubbed the arm on full turn of the wheel. I am dying to know if they will fit on here because the more I read about the stock Goodyear SR-A's, the more I realize that I will probably be changing these tires sooner than later. Thanks guys.

Buckmann686 that is exactly what I want to hear! BTW, do you have any pics of your truck with those tires on it...I would love to see how they look.
Stvsherrod - I see what you mean using the calculator for the 20 inch rim stock tires but I wonder how wide that 20" rim is. I have stock 265/70/r17's on mine and a jump up to the 285's would be over an inch taller than what I have now but the stock rim is only 7" wide. I had 305/70/R (16" or 17" cannot remember) on my '01 Ram 1500 4x4 with the offroad package and I had no rubbing what-so-ever on that rig, but the stock rims were 7.5" or 8".
I have read some really bad things about these stock Goodyear RS-A's. I miss the Mich. LTX M/S that came stock on my Tacoma...60K miles on those tires when I sold it and they still had at least 15k miles more life to them. It is ashame that Dodge and others opt to cut corners on tire selection when it is one of the most important 'saftey" features on the truck. I understand keeping prices low, but there are some much better options that are close to the same price range.
