well i have to say they both can get annoying on a long trip.. Although on both of my trucks I have the tailpipe ending just past the back of the cab so they are pretty loud inside. I didn't think of the fact that my dakota has headers instead of manafolds so that makes a difference in sound too. Anyway either or, i like both mufflers but if your looking for loudness the magnaflow will Not be has loud as a 40 series. once you get up past 2K on the tach, its almost like it gets quieter, it just loses its aggression and you can hear my engine over the muffler as if it were a stock muffler. But thats what they were aiming for with making magnaflow i believe, something thats not going to **** off everyone around you but still have an aggressive sound.

Well I took out the flowmaster original 40 last night and had a 14 inch magnaflow installed. I think the magnaflow sounds much smoother. Not that the 40 sounded bad. It was just a punch to the face and I prefer something a little more subtle. The drone is gonna be there no matter what, but it feels alot more tolerable now.
