Default Cold Air Intake

I've only had my truck for a month so forgive me for this newbie question. If I were to install a CAI, do I need to go with the new exhaust and tuner or will I notice any benefits from the CAI alone? If so, what benefits could I expect?

Benfits? A little but nothing to make you say wow. For the same money a programmer would get more wow for your dollar. But.... Do not get the predator, at least not right now. I have seen to many issues with them.

I installed an "Airaid" CAI on my '09 5.7 Quad Cab Laramie. Have not messed with exhaust or electronics.

Airaid claims an approx. 10 HP increase. Honestly, I can't say I feel a difference.
I can say, however, that it sounds awesome. At mid-rpm ranges, the engine sounds so much better......throatier, stronger. The stock airbox quiets down the rush of intake air substantially. Now, at wide open throttle, it howls!

Unfortunately, my mileage has gone down a bit. Not because of the CAI, but because I'm a lot heavier on the throttle now so I can hear that Hemi sing!

i have a magna flow exhaust on mine, put that on first, sounded throatier right away! I just recently put in the stage 3 air aid intake, where i had to switch out the air box and breather hose and intake tube. You can notice a little more power but the sound is way louder too! its awesome

Mopar finally released their CAI for 2009 5.7s. It costs more than most other manufacturers, but it gives you that OEM performance parts look with basically the same small changes in power and sound. I'm planning on purchasing the Mopar one myself once I get out of Iraq.

I just ordered the Mopar CAI, so whenever my truck finally gets here, I'll let you know how it sounds. It was between the Mopar and the Volant.

IMO the Mopar one is ugly. Just my two cents. The Volant looks a lot better. I don't say this to offend anyone, I just dont get the half rubber half metal hose. They should have been able to make a good looking ABS plastic hose (like Airaid) since they should have a truck somewhat close to take measurements.

Isnt plastic better than aluminum or metal because of the heat under the hood? just something i heard along the way, but it does make sense.I want an intake but im waiting for K&N... They need to hurry...
