Predator and cold climates
OK.... Who has the 93 tune and lives in a cold climate? Cold meaning sub 30s?
A week ago I was up in MI on Telegraph.... It was about 20 that night. I was doing about 45 and punched it. The truck acted like it was hesitating. When it went to down shift it kept trying but kept kicking back and forth. At that time (hell even now) I am not sure if it was the engine choking or the tranny having issues downshifting. Taking off from a dead stop with full throttle or even punching it when at 65+ does not do it. Only putting the hammer down from around 40-55ish seems to do it.
So anyhow.... I just filled up that night and thought maybe bad gas. I ran that entire tank (down to 10 miles on DTE). During that tank I could reproduce the issue on demand. So I filled up with what has always been good gas for me.... Wait a day, then took it out for a test. Issue still exists. So last night I put it back to stock tune.... Issue is gone!
So.... If you have the 93 tune on your truck, and it is cold (under 30) go out and get your truck up to 45 and put the hammer down and report back. Of course that speed range could vary so slightly depening on tire size and gears.
Forgot to mention, it happens whether MDS is on or off @ 45ish so it is not a MDS issue.

Why do you still have that thing, seems like theres been alot of issues
I am done with it, will be on EBay soon.
May go with a SC when they come out. IMHO DS rushed this thing out, no different than the 10. Then, to make it worse, they basically said screw you on the fuel saver light. I was going to let that go, but this latest issue is nothing to screw with.
I had a SC on a TA. Was easier to use, comes with everything you need (including com cables to computer).

With the kind of half assed testing that it seems like they have done, what are the chances that they did any testing over a full temp range. The tuner sellers are looking for dyno numbers for the boy racers who buy their junk, not worrying about real world issues.

I'm only running the 87 tune but it runs fine even down in the single digits. 45 is not a good speed with the 3.55s, it won't hit 1st and 2nd prime is too tall for any real performance at that speed. But it flat out flies from 70-100.
It could even be a similar issue reported on their site where if the rev limiter is raised (custom tune) it will not shift (yet another bug).
Now that I have the stock tune on the truck I notice the truck shifts much better now. Do not get me wrong, with the DS heavy to full throttle the shifts are much better than stock, MUCH better. But under low acceleration the DS shifts almost seem like it has a hole or hesitation during the shift.
After such a glowing review I am sure I killed my resale on this site.... BUt $280 (free ship) is my price, which will save you about $50 over new. This includes the unit and comm cable to the computer. It is fully updated with the latest CROM and tunes. Of course this also works on 3rd GENs and does get good reviews with them.
