Default New truck 4x4 Wierd problem

Just picked up a new 4x4 Sport with the 5 position transfer case, it's only shifting into 4wd when I'm stopped or driving very slow. Otherwise it flashes the light and the Service 4x4 light comes on and stays on till I shut the truck off. At slow speeds every position chosen works perfectly, any ides? Not impressed with this PDI.

Sounds like it needs to go to the dealer. Unless its 4lo your trying to go into?

You better take it back to the dealer to get that serviced.

I have not had any issues with my 4x4 system. I only have the 3 position transfer case though.

4 lo works best when you are in Neutral but coasting 3 to 5 mph but most often when you need 4 lo its to late, it will go in without coasting but might kind grind and take a few extra seconds.

The Sport has the 5 position transfer case which includes 4 auto. It is the equivalent to having all wheel drive, you can have it in 4 auto and use it on dry or wet pavement without loading up the drive system like you would in 4 high.

As for an update to the problem I have, The first time I try to engage any 4 wheel drive setting the light flashes on the chosen setting and the SERV 4x4 light on the dash turns on, I pull over shut the truck off, start up try it again and it works perfectly and will continue to do so all day long, probably tried it 10 times yesterday without an issue. Its like something has to warm up first before it starts to work, maybe something is stiff or tighter than what it should be.

4W Auto on my Silverado engaged all 4 wheels, but didn't power the front axle. I still felt the typical 4WD feel on dry pavement and slow turns.

Supposedly it saves gas over 4WD Hi

in 4auto on the Ram I don't feel any steering wheel tug at all, tried it on dry pavement making tight turns. I still won't leave it on unless the road is at least wet or patchy with snow etc. Seems like a good idea, the main reason I bought the Sport was because of this optional transfer case, I liked the exhaust tone better on the Sport vs the SLT or Laramie with the twice pipes too.

yup everything works normal after the first initial try of the day, only had it 2 days so it might be too soon this is some kind of pattern.
