Default How To Remove Wax / Polish...

...from the textured plastic bed rail caps?

I just cleaned, clay barred, and polished my truck, but now I've got polish marks on the bed rail caps in the textured area. How do you go about removing them. I've tried a tooth brush to no avail.

Alcohol if you're messy. (Rubbing alcohol) Or WD40 but be careful of paint. Also, if all else fails, wick lighter fluid that has NAPHTHA in it works wonders, but it will eat the paint off the truck if you aren't careful.

Used to strip and clean the surface of your truck before wax.

IMHO, if you keep it cleaned and wax regularly this is not needed. If you abuse your truck it is a good idea.

try a pressure washer carefully to blast the old stuff out maybe use some dish soap to help loosen it up.

What I use is this conditioner called F21 by Turtle Wax, its pretty much like a high shine vinyl/plastic/leather protectant. I use this on all my black plastic I have on all my vehicles. You can use Armor All as well, I guess.

It's a little late now but next time buy wax that doesn't leave any white residue. Several brands to pick from.

Mother's Back to Black will return the plastic to black, but when it finally washes off (which does take quite a while), there will still be some of the "haze" left.

I'd try Dawn or Joy dishwashing liquid. Both will strip the wax off anything.

My truck is kept up and is washed weekly, weather permitting.

I claybarred the truck because the last time I had it at the Dodge dealership for service I got it back with overspray all over the hood, roof and one side. I took it back to the next day since it was dark when I picked it up and didn't notice it, and of course, they had no idea what it was from and couldn't have happened while they had it, yeah right.
