Installed E3 spark plugs
I bought and installed a set of E3 plugs. All 16 cost $106.00. Initial impression is that the truck seems to idle a little smoother. Took it out for a short drive and didn't really notice a seat of the pants HP improvement. Tuesday evening I should be taking it for a 70 mile round trip. I have made this same exact trip with my CAI (19.5 mpg) and without (20.5 mpg). Truck was filled up and the trip/fuel meter reset at the exact same place. Will drive it for a couple of weeks and let you know any good or bad thoughts. By the way the plugs that I removed were NGKs not champion. Yes this is the first plug change as I did it early, only 21000 miles.
Now for anyone thinking about replacing your plugs. I will tell you this is no easy task. The back 4 plugs on the drivers side were a royal pain to get out. There is not much room between the brake booster and the heads. What I did is I put the spark plug socket part of the way in the hole for the spark plug. While holding the socket in place I attached a 3 inch 3/8 extension then inserted it a little further. Then while holding that in place I attached a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter then finished putting the socket on the plug. There is enough room to get in there with a 1/2" ratchet. Once the plug was loose I did just the opposite to remove it. The back 2 on the passengers side is a little fun also being that you have the heater hoses in the way. It took me approximately 2.5 hours to replace all 16. Most of the time was spent trying to figure out a way to remove and intall the back plugs.

Is that for 09 or will they be sending out an addendum? I only put 7000 kms on mine in almost a year, I will make it to the end of my warranty before I have to put plugs LOL, then I will take it to the dealer and they will all be rusted in and it will become a warranty issue and no way will I accept an engine with more than one Heli coil....unless they put a time factor my dicdastardly plan will fail bahhhhhhhhhhh
rsbluram, where the plugs you pulled out the NGK LZFR5C-11 spark plugs? That's the part number that the Owner's Manual and NGK says is the OEM spark plug for our trucks ('09 5.7 CC). They're platinums.
As for 'updated' service manual that call out plug change at 50,000 miles - wonder where we can get that in writing...

Since you've changed them out once, the 2nd time will be a lot faster. I'm sure you'll be getting people asking your for help coming up soon! I have about a year or so to before I think about doing mine.

I decided to change the plugs just because I have a habit of doing vehicle maintenance early. I also would like to see 50000 miles in writing instead of 30000. If you go to the website for E3 plugs they have a catalog with what plug goes to what vehicle. The part # if I recall right is E3.66. I haven't really had a chance to drive it much, been sick the last couple of days. Once I have a chance to get out and about I will report any improvements in MPG. AZdave yes those are the ones I removed.
