32 Gallon Gas Tank ?
I have a 2009 1500 2WD Laramie with the optional 32-gal gas tank. When I fill up when on absolute empty (fuel gauge below E and EVIC saying Low Fuel), I can only put a max of 26 to 26.5 gallons in the tank.
So the question is: (1) Do I not have the 32-gallon tank? or (2) Is the gas guage and EVIC reading just really conservative so you don't run out of gas?
Thanks!!!

The EVIC is really conservative but you should be getting in more than that.
The EVIC will say low fuel when its below 30 miles to empty. I tripped my odometer and drove another 40 miles I think with Low Fuel on and got slightly above 30 gal in.

I can tell you that on my '03 when the low fuel light comes on the truck had 2 gallons of fuel left in it. With the '09 when it comes on there is at least 5 gallons left. The differences I have seen is the '03 shows about 20 miles DTE when the light comes on and the '09 turns on the light with less than 30 miles DTE. I have never put more than 24 gallons into the '09 and just the other night I put in 26.2 gallons into the '03. Both have 26 gallon tanks. I have driven the '03 a long way with the DTE showing 0 miles. I know this doesn't help, but I thought you would find it... amusing?
well put a 5 gal can of gas in the back and run her dry. then you will know where empty really is. Dont make a habit of this as i am told that some gas in tank is needed to cool fuel pump. if it is in the tank, my chevy mechanic friend told me this.
This reminds me of a Seinfeld episode... I think its a good idea. Someone should try this and report back.

agreed .. the tanks are definately 32 gallons . i have been able to put about 30 in ..
like the other guy said .. put a 5 gal tank of gas in the back and drive until it sputters .. then add 5 gal, and make it to a gas station quick .. you would be able to add another 26+ gallons easy if you hit a gas station quick.
