F150 versus RAM 1500
I agree the tundra has a drabby interior, my 3rd gen ram has a drabby interior and the the ford and 4rth gen Ram have a nicer interior, but I'm not motivated to buy based on who has the nicer interior, this is driving up the cost of a new truck, engine performance, towing ability, mileage , and longivity are more inporatnt to me.
If you get it all, interior looks, towing, performance, ect, you paying for it, a lessor looking cheaper truck with equal power train at a a lot lower cost wins the game, all brands trick you into buying what you don't really need, but, if your paying, enjo

tundra was 4-5k more than my dodge. and I like buying things that are shiny.
While I agree ford has a higher tow rating, I tow the exact same trailer about 4000lbs total with my ram (hemi 4x4, 3.92 tow package) and my sons f150 (4x4 5.4 tow package), it's not even a competition, with the f150 you better stay in the right lane and don't ever plan on passing anyone while towing.

And there you have it, everyone's needs are different. I don't want or need immense towing capacity, just a 2000lb boat. I want something comfortable that I can put outsize things in the bed of. I've used the truck so many times that I got shot of my utility trailer to the neighbor who was always borrowing it.
Following the same line of argument, ever increasing towing capacity is driving up the price of the truck... why not just buy a 3500 and have done with it?
If you are not having luck with dealers, you might just try cutting them out and going through a buying service. Not sure if you are eligible to use USAA or not, but their buying program allowed me to get 3 dealers in a price war for my business. If you can get their offers in writing, it gives you some bargaining power, but if you divulge who the opposing dealers are, they may just cut a deal among themselves. It takes a little finesse on your part, but should pay off for you. Just make sure you know what the invoice cost is for the particular truck and know what incentives are available. I like to use edmunds.com for that data.
Did they ever say what the configuration of the trucks was? Gear ratio?
I'd be more interested in seeing what happens when they are not towing over the rated tow limits. MY comparisons are based on pulling a 3500lb boat and a 5K loaded car trailer. My F150 was rated to tow over 11,000 lbs with street gears and would. My Ram is rated to tow 6000 lbs, and there is no way in hell it would tow 15,000 lbs up a hill (with 3.21 gears).
Granted my F150 was an 02 - so maybe things have changed (although it's the same motor)

ford 5.4 is the same displacement, in 02 the 5.4 had 2 vavle per cylinder, 04 and up the 5.4 has 3 valve per cylinder and variable valve timming, the 02 5.4 is rated at 260 h/p and the 04 5.4 3v is 300 hp, the older 5.4 in a f-150 is a lot quicker, the 04 f-150 grew fat with the restyle.
I owned a 02 F-150 AND A 04 F-150, booth garbage, the 5.43v is set up to put out max torque at arround 1800 rpm, thats wahy tier rated for better towing, but the 5.4 has no mid range, thats why the hemi kicks it to the curb

I bought my Ram in December- for me it was between the 09 F150 and the 09 Ram 1500. I checked out both- I really like the 09 redesign on the fords, looks really nice- they did a good job. The interior of the one I looked at was really nice too.
The Rams of course always look damn good on the outside. The interior of the one I looked at was less nice/fancy than the ford one I looked at because it was just an ST, but to me the interior doesn't matter too much, I'm looking for functionality.
I ended up getting a 2010 Ram for something like $10,000-$15,000 less than what I could talk ford down to for a an 09 (this was in December). Oh, and uh, Ford's interest rate was like 7.99%- my Dodge is at 3.49%.
8% interest- pfft...

Well I have failed again at buying a Dodge truck today. Found a dealer that has 4 trucks equipped exactly as I want. I was ready to drive 3 hours there to buy one then did a BBB and Google complaints search on the dealer and they turned out to be a bait and switch, change terms of the deal at the last moment operation.

It was very draining and very time consuming but for such an expensive purchase it was worth it for me to do that.
