Hemi slows down as soon as my foot's off the gas...
So I scrolled my little odo display to ECO and it does say 'ECO on' when the MDS kicks in. It does go to ECO on as soon as I take my foot off the gas. It mostly just seems to turn off when I'm accellerating somewhat rapidly.
The guy at the dealership told me the only way I could tell if my MDS was doing its thing was by 'getting to know the feel of it.'
It doesn't appear to turn on while I'm idling, which seems odd to me, but what do i know about these kinds of things

In my 09, I can let off the gas all the way and I'll coast for a 'several seconds' (~5~) before the FS light comes on,,, When it does, I do not notice any difference at all in the rate of deceleration. Pretty much seamless on decell,,, Almost seamless when engaging while maintaining a constant speed,,,
I think all of the MDS equipped v-8's run in 8 cyl mode when idling,,, I kinda wish all that time spent at stoplights would be spent in 4 cylinder mode, but,,,
Well, I did notice that even though my MDS was off, when I would release the accelerator pedal completely, my "ECO" light immediately comes on and the instantaneous MPG bar graph goes all the way to the right. Now I have to see at what speeds I notice the pronounced drag feeling.
[QUOTE=JoesBrotherRamMan;1979529]Your point isn't abstract to me. I to noticed this after purchasing my 2010..more so than the other vehicles I drive, including a 1995 F350..I think it has to do with the way these things are geared, they have an awful lot of snap under throttle, which I contribute to the physics of the drivetrane..however with great snappy throttle comes poor gas mileage, and superior drag when off the throttle. That is the work of the drivetrane pulling back on the truck
I have simaler issue and it seems like Drivetrain resistance more than normal in coast. I also have loose exauhst manifold flange pipe both sides. Can that cause a compression braking so to speak?

Hi there, I have a 2010 4x4 Ram with a Hemi in it and I noticed that when I'm driving on the highway as soon as I take my foot off the gas it immediately starts slowing down. So I always have to have my foot on the gas to maintain speed.
Are they all like this?
Is it to do with the MDS technology?
Thanks.

I talked to a couple dealerships about it but they just look at me like I'm crazy.
And yeah, if you let off the gas, the truck is going to slow down. It's big, it's heavy, and has the aerodynamics of a brick......
Now, if it slows down faster than you think it should..... might be a dragging brake.
How about the guy you quoted hasn't been here in ten years. Care about that? I hope you don't really expect an answer from him.......

if that were true then why is the problem fixed when I do this and coast like normal. Truck or not the vehicle shouldn't drive as though the brakes are constantly applied.
wow, you're kind of a dick hey? Do you just like to chirp ppl on here to make yourself feel like a big man?

All that aside, I simply pointed out that this thread is old. You are the one that seems to have taken offense at me pointing out a simple fact. If you are that thin-skinned, maybe the internet isn't the place for you.......
Also, using your 4x4 on high traction surfaces is a REALLY bad idea, and tends to break things.
