Default Need new tires, what to do?

So here is the problem, I am putting on a 2.5 lift in the front and 1 in the rear. I am going to put on bigger tires but have no idea what to go with. I wanted a 285 75 r17 because I want to keep my stock rims for know and want the hight I would get from this size (33.8"). The problem is I don't want the Nitto Terra Grapler (don't like how soon they wear out) and the Toyo MT's cost way to much. So any ideas on what to do? I have 17" rims.

Mickey Thompson MTZ's.

All round great tire, good highway manners, low noise. Great wear and wicked off road. I will be buying a set for this truck when I get the cash, had them on my last truck and loved them.

I didn't think the 285/75 R17s would fit on our rims. I thought for factory 17x7 rims that the tallest tire we could go to was the 275 that came on the TRX4. Am I worng in this assumption?

Edit: Just did some research and THANKS... The 285 tires are good to go for the stock rims. Makes my day. Wanted taller but didn't want the cost of the suspension lift or new rims just yet.

if u want to do it by the book a 285 is the biggest u can go, but im going to be putting a 35x12.50 on stock wheels. its not correct i know but it wont hurt anything i do with my truck. they just say that so the tire company cant get in trouble by someone putting the wrong size on the wheel. if ur wondering a 305/70r17 is close to the same as a 35x12.50 and with ur lift they will fit. might have a slight scrub at full lock but a little trimming of the plastic line will fix that

Actually a 315/70r17 is closer but still a little smaller then a true 35. I have the same lift on my truck and the 315's fit with NO rubbing issues. I have not been able to get them to rub yet but am sure they will at some point off road.... they are close, but so far, I can't get them to rub ever.

Good. Is that the tallest you can go stock?

I thought I could use my almost new mudders off my old truck on my new truck- thought they were 285/75/17 but turns out they were only 16 inch rims.
Too bad!!

TI V30M, that what i meant a 315 is close to a 35. thanks for catching that. i hope to have my tires on soon and i will get a pic. i work at a goodyear tire store and am getting a really good deal on some wrangler mt/rs or dunlop rover mts. and like i said before i know that the tire is technically too big for the wheel. im not saying to put a tire on thats too big but i am. i know from experiance that it will work, hope that clears up that.
