Only way to find out is try it yourself, thats usually how it works

Yup, I will be checking it out for sure. I don't need it till May so I am not rushing out to do it yet. But will need to get on it before it's too late.

Which guy was that? The one on here and the other forum (ARG) answered everyone. Heck, I've talked to him numerous times via PM. There is also dealer Tech on another forum (Cormacs) with a lot of detailed info on the 2010 install and how it works. Again, talked to him many times. From what he says, everything will work except the EVIC communication. To get that, you need additional parts. Not worth it IMHO since the controller itself has a display. He has towed with his numerous times, worked flawlessly. Even the hill start assist works with the trailer brakes. So your best bet is to read his info and if you have questions, ask.

I've personally got everything wired and ready to install in my 09. Can tell you first hand what it does very shortly. (if it would ever stop snowing) I do have a trailer and can try everything out. Helped another guy that had a shop to work in through the wiring and he got his 09 connected today. And it works!

The official stance is still that you can't add this. Probably don't want you messing with the wiring on the 09 since you can really screw something up if not wired correctly.

Sorry, I have not seen a post where anyone says they have used it and how it works.... Every post I have read has people saying all the lights work, trailer lights etc, but no info on how well it works pulling an actuall trailer. Do you need to reset it for city vs highway driving? IS it over agresive or very mild or just right? Easy to set etc?

From the other post on here,,,

( other colors are different P/N's)

Will also need 3 more #20 torx screws just like the 2 that hold the existing pocket to the dash. 2 hold the controller to the bezel and 1 supports the back of the controller.

Took me about 15 minutes to install. the connectors are already there on a 2010 and plug right in.

Don't leave us hanging. Is it working properly? Did you have to have it dealer scanned? Does it show up in your center display like they do when stock?

That was left by another guy and not a reply.....

Maybe I will PM him and ask. Don't really want to drop $200 bucks to find out it works, but works like crap when used. I know it doesn't show up in the EVIC unless you add some other modules that no one knows what they are...... One day I wil get it all figured out.

On a different forum ARG said it worked OK. From what I gather after a couple hours of reading is it does work on a 1500 but just no display on the EVIC. 2500s dont appear to work for some reason.

I ordered the parts today, controller is on backorder supposedly, but when it comes all I have to is just plug it in and see if works with my trailer without even mounting it.

Go to Google and type in "Cormacs brake controller". Lots of info there. It works basically like any other proportional controller only you will not have a boost setting. If you have a 2010, the instructions are in your owner's manual on how to adjust it. Otherwise, you can download a copy from the Ram website.

The 2500 info was most likely for the 3rd gen trucks, not the 4th gen. Probably why it doesn't work?

If you put the controller part number (56029431AE) in google you will find the thread, cummins forums or something like that. The dealer was trying to make it work and was posting in the thread and in the end the owner said it just didnt work and put a P3 on the truck. Its possible the 2500s are more integrated into the truck and need more parts to work since they can tow a lot more, who knows.

Found it. Sounds like they don't have the wiring installed from the factory?? Not the case with the 2010 1500.

I just hate to cut it off, was hoping someone would come out with the plug before I need to tow this spring but its not looking that way.

I am thinking they changed the plug since the 2010 has the factory brake controller, figured if it was reasonably priced i would just put one of those in and sell off the P3 I have here. I kind of like the OE look but its not showing up in the parts books yet according to my dealer.

But as far as a 'better' brake controller then the prodigy or P3 I doubt it, just about everyone uses them. The Hensley controller looks nice but I dont see how it could worth double or triple what the P3/prodigy costs.

The Hensley hitch has its lovers and haters, just like Reese or Equal-i-zer. They all work fine if setup properly.
without a doubt the factory looks a lot better, the major issue is that these controllers are not small and need to be mounted close to level. i saw where someone cut the plastic and pushed it through under the steering wheel area. looked a bit rough and they had no access to the lever on the bottom but with a little finishing that could be the way to go. Mine is mounted to the right, toward the center console, if I have my seat too close my leg will touch it but with my settings and my wifes it is not in the way. Someone on here mounted it in the middle.

the reese seems to work really well. my trailer is 30ft and i went through some areas with double blowing by me in both directions, the trailer never moved. the only time i notice the trailer is over bumps that when they hit the trailers after my axles move it up and down a bit but I think that may be correctable in how I distribute the weight in the trailer.

Thr prodigy and P32 can be mounted on a pretty severe angle, as long as it points straight and the face is horizontal. It is self leveling for the tilt, so they say anyhow. I can mount it at about a 45* angle where the little LH cubby is and it should work fine like that and be relatively out of the way.

But I'll wait until the OE one shows up and see if it works, if not I'll eBay it.

Lot of guys like the reese sway hitch, I cant see spending that much on the Hensley. rv net is a great resource for WD hitches.
