$400 labor is on the high side, who's giving you the quote and what kind of warranty do they give on it? What kind of gears are they using and did you mean OEM locker?

Default quotes

I called the shop noted earlier in this email string for a quote to change the gears and add LSD(they are in WA). They said they would use all factory parts and quoted me 2850 to change to a 3.92 front and back with LSD. I also guess you pay for what you get though and all this shop does is this type of work.

Default Factory gears from dealer or these?

http://www.g2axle.com/Ring-and-Pinio...nion-gear.aspx
G2 OEM Ring & Pinions

Our OEM Series gears are manufactured with the intent to provide the quietest gears possible while maintaining strength and ease of installation. They are manufactured in the same factories that supply OE manufacturers, and meet their stringent standards.

They make that claim but I had problems with mine making noise and called Genuine Gear to complain. The tech rep admitted that they "cut their gears differently than Chrysler/Dodge OEM and that that are noisier than OEM."

I ended up replacing the G2 gears with real OEM's from an online discount Dodge Dealer.

Thanks 05Dakotaho, I was thinking that the shop that pacific nw guy is getting quotes from is just repeating the claims from G2. If you notice, G2 doesn't claim that they are the same gears.

The guy behind the counter is usually a young kid just trying to make a buck and probably believes the gears are the same. The looser is always the customer.

This is why input from people such as Dakota is great at these sites

I've got G2 OEM 4.10s in my Sport. They are in no way close to as quiet as the real Dodge ones. You will know they are there. I've put 400 miles on them since install, and they've quieted considerably compared to the first couple of days. I can tell they're back there, and I've even got a Mufflex 14 with the resonators removed and that can't mask it completely.

the guy who quoted me stated they were the exact dodge parts. he said if they did it the dealer would never even know you changed them......
