Ram vs. Tundra Towing
I've always towed my pontoon boat in 5th gear, which equates to 3.13 with my Tundra, and wanted know if my new Ram with 3.92 gears will do as well in 4th gear which equates to 2.94 which is a little higher.
If you were worried you should have checked that out before you bought it. All we need is another person in her complaining there other brand truck could tow more or better. Do your homework, I wish I would have, I would have not bought my truck since its an 08 build but I have to say other than dealer issues it has bee awesome, one month it will be a year old. One thing the rims are pitting or something...those plastichrome ones. I best get that in before next month. Could be my wifes fault not washing them enough of not getting right in there. I am paraplegic for those who don't know, beside like I said she wanted the dam truck she even pays for it I was happy with a 6 banger charger.
Yea I pulled my dad tractor to a tractor pull with mine, and it was like it wasnt even behind my truck. With the tractor, trailer, and weights I would say it weighed in around 6000lbs or so.
I pull a 25 foot center console (bluefin pro250) ocean boat weighs almost 6800lbs depending on how full the tank can be higher (150 gallons), I have no problem going up hills down hills pulling out of the ramp, etc. Your ram with 392s will laugh at the pontoon boat really.
I thought a 5th wheel cannot be used with the 09's or is it just he crew cab. I see you have a quad.
For years Chrysler has had disclaimers about 5th wheels and cab over campers on some of their models.I have not seen such on 09/010 1500s.Might be one on Quads due to the shortness of the bed.Anyhow many many Dodge trucks equiped correctly handle 5th wheels and cab overs just fine.I think its a CYA on Chrysler's part.I'd rather pull a 5th wheel then a rear hitch pull any day.
