Freaking dealers
You need to figure out exactly what the issue is.
I never heard back from them after I proposed the quad headlight deal this afternoon. By the way they changed their story today, now they say they didn't call NJ DMV they said they called a NJ dealer for instructions on the tax. Its starting to smell like something that sat in the fridge too long.
So I called the dealer just now to get a break down on the numbers, apparently they all flunked math class and now I owe $1,120 up from $700. I spoke with a head honcho who admitted, its a lot of money, he said he's going to make sure NJ gets the sales tax money they are supposed to get whether they pay it, we both pay it, or I pay it. Hmmm we'll see, I left no doubt that I was royally pissed about the whole mess.
Their job is selling trucks. If they can't get the paperwork right they shouldn't be selling trucks. Do you really think this is the first time they have sold a truck to an out of state resident?
Bring the truck back to the dealership, give the salesman the keys, and ask for your check/deposit back. You no longer have a deal with them at the price agreed to on the sales contract. Seriously, will that paperwork still be valid even if you give them another check? What amount does the finance company have on file? What value does your insurance company have on file? These numbers will all be off.
Thats the pitfall of dealing out of state. Most dealers wont give an 'out the door' price quote on out of state sales. When you made your deal if you got the total price including taxes in writing before you hit the business office then you may have an argument. If you got the price without taxes, then went in the office and they added it in later and made a mistake you have little recourse.
Its not that hard to figure out, you have the paperwork, go to where you buy plates and ask what the proper tax would be on the deal. If its wrong then what can you do but write a check if it was an honest mistake.

Congrats man, glad they did the right thing, after awhile lol lol.....................................Kevin.
Its good they're paying it, Congrats!
I would of told them to go F%$k themselves, if they didnt, and gave them there truck back and went and bought a brand new one somewhere else.
Again congrats, hopefully this is it for the list of
you've had to deal with.
