2010 Front Bumper Rust
Might not just be your bad luck. 2 of my friends who own '09s have both had their front bumpers replaced already for rust spots. One of them had 10+ noticible spots within 2 months of delivery. We all live in Ontario as well, so lots of road salt, but the one friend who needed replacement within the first 2 months had it at a time when we had little to no snow. Mine has been fine so far....hopefully it stays that way
They should recall all the bumpers because of the crap thing metal, and the crap thin coating of chrome... What i said on the other post... If i could get teh dealer to replace it, i would go for a painted bumper and then coat it with the 3M tape, and i'd spring for the difference warranty won't cover... Just a thought... It would probably old up better, or get them to get you a primed one, and get it painted thick...
painted bumpers are just as bad i've got 3000 miles of winter on mine and the paint/rust is starting to bubble only in a few spots. but still rust on a truck that has 3000 miles on it i'm alittle upset, who wouldn't
You should be rinsing the wax off, otherwise it will dry to a haze. I know at my car wash, they have a step by step guide beside the controls. I do believe thought that the idea to rinse and then use spot free rinse afterwords is just a ploy to get more change. My procedure is to hit it to wash, quickly wet the whole truck down to start the dirt softening then go over the whole truck, panel by panel. First up and donw, then side to side to make sure I don't miss a spot. Then I rinse it off using the wax (not everytime, but much more frequently in winter), then hit it with the spot free rinse ( again, I leave the wax on in the winter quite often). Now, you may not have rinse and spot free depending on where you live, but our water is horribly hard and leaves nasty water spots if you don't use it.
If you do choose to use the soap brush, make sure you spray the hell out of it before you go at it. I have used it occasionally on the wifes van because some times it won't come clean without it. I always spray it down first to get it as clean as possible, then spray the brush and go at it. Although, in that case, a good wash at home would be best.

It has beeen mild here this year. I would suggest those having bumpers replaced, remember they are putting the same crap on, maybe get it clear coated? or just keep waxing it all the time, how long to rub some wax on it wait 10 minutes then buff it off. I would go with clear coating myself, I wonder if one of those rattle cans of clear would do the job. 7 bucks some tape and plastic or paper, a calm warm day or a garage but outside the overspray will dry and fly away in the garage it tend to land on stuff and stick so you gotta cover the whole dam truck. Anyway....maybe someone should sugest to the dealer they clear coat them before putting them on.
We are talking about steel bumpers correct because my bumper is all plastic nothing to rust but there was someone not sure it it was this forum even was claiming his Sport was rusting on the bumper...correct me if I am wrong but all sports are colour coded to the truck and are a plastic bumper cover.

yep, my rear bumper has spots as well. I'm going to say that its rail dust cause its alot of little spots coming thru the paint. just to clarify st models have the grey steel bumpers. if i were to go to the dealear and confront them about this problem and have them swap them out with crome and i pay the difference would they do it?
