Default After Market Nav Radios

I have a new2010 quad cab and thinking about installing a Kenwood Nav/Radion system. My question is, will the EVIC screen work with the new radio or will it show radio off? With the stock radio, on the top line of the EVIC, it shows what station I'm on, I'm leaning towards the Kenwood DNX 6960.

I just installed a pioneer double din with Nav, nothing shows up in the EVIC.

Do you think the dealer could reflash the truck and have it functional?

I dont think so, when you install an aftermarket radio I am guessing, guessing I say that the power source they use for the radio is not part of the canbus system the the EVIC is. Check with your local GOOD stereo shop and see if they know of a radio or a way to hook it up properly to work. Good luck, and keep us informed on how this works. I am curious.

Do either of you happen to know if the stock radio (non-nav) has an external amp or if it powers the speakers internally?

the alpine system does have a external amp, though i'm not quite sure as to it's location- i'm sure someone else on the forum here can fill in the blank.

I just went out and checked the old radio and the truck to see what I did. I did not have the ten pin connector and could not see anything with the factory wire harness. It might be for the Uconnect, I don't have that option.

I have a DNX 6140 and it doesn't show up on the screen. Direction and temp are there but not the radio station. And btw I couldn't be happier with this unit. I almost bought the 9140 but I see now there was no need to spend the extra money. This unit is awesome.
