going up and down mountains at 80mph on my way to vegas.. im sure glad the power is there. especially with 4 guys in the truck and bed full of stuff.
i guess if all your gonna do is drive your truck to home depot to get some 2x4s then yeah.. no need for the hemi.
but if you gonna pull a small boat or atvs then you need a hemi.
and if you want to add anything later.. like an intake exhaust or whatever.. youll be kicking yourself for not starting out with the 390 hp engine in the first place
and if your gonna keep the truck 6-8 years id wanna drive something i want.. not something i dont want just because i have a warranty just IN CASE something happens.

The 4.7 has plenty of power to tow a small boat or atv trailer. If you get up to the 4-5K lb type load then it might be a bigger issue. I've got the Hemi, but I've also towed full car trailers with a 4.0L V6 Ranger. Big HP numbers at 5000RPM mean nothing for towing.
Previous to buying the Ram, we've been towing our 3500lb ski boat with my wifes 2003 v6 Sorrento (5 passengers). I think that people over estimate sometimes what it takes to pull that kind of weight.

Thanks for all of the input. I do plan on keeping the truck at least until it's paid off. I know the hemi is a nice option but coming from a 4.6 3v V8 ford, the 4.7 has plenty of power for my needs. However, with the free upgrade to the hemi this month it's a no brainer if I decide to buy the 2010.
is the 09 a dealer demo or left over? watch out cause if its not brand new they sell it as used and your interest rate for a used car may be higher...BUT youll get a good deal. i looked at the lone star to fancy for me

im not saying the hemi isnt great, im just saying i wouldnt buy a truck with a hemi over the 4.7 just because of that motor. i went with the 4.7 bc the truck had all the options i wanted sunroof, park assist, alpine system, remote start etc....the hemi one the dealer had had none of these options. plus i dont haul or tow anything to often and if so its never anything to much for the 4.7 to handle. also could not pass up the lifetime warranty.
But all that said this is not the truck i wanted for sure, i wanted a 2010 2500 with the cummins, but they are way up there in price....

Well I'll be sealing the deal on a 2010 Ram Crewcab SLT 4x4 Lonestar Package with a Hemi tonight!
I have to admit it was a tough decision between a 2010 Ford F150 vs the Dodge. But when I was offered the Hemi/Lonestar package, a payment that is $160 less per month than the Ford F150 XLT 4x4 5.4 crew cab I was looking at, and the exact color I wanted--- goodbye Ford, hello Dodge!!! (Just FYI, the 2009 Dodge was thrown out of the picture as well, as my payment would actually have been a little bit higher than what I got for the 2010- go figure).
The truck is on transit and will be here by Monday. It's going to be a long wait, but will give me some time to think of some future mods. Thanks for the help everyone and I look forward to being a part of the Dodge family.
