Question Help! Which truck?

Hi all. I'm considering buying a dodge slt crew 4x4 and am at a crossroads in my decision. Here are my choices (both are slt crew cabs and 4wd):

2010 Slt
Pros: free hemi upgrade and it's a lone star package, great deal after incentives, and it's available in my first color choice.
Cons: 5yr powertrain warranty (I won't even come close to 100k in this time)

now my other choice

A hard to find 2009 (not lone star package)
Pros: color is my second choice (silver) and lifetime powertrain warranty (if this was offered for the 2010 it would be a no brainer), price is very nice
Cons: 4.7 engine is about the only con I can think of and only because the 2010 will have the hemi.

The truck I buy is one I hope to keep for at least 6-8 years which is why the lifetime warranty for the 09 is soo attractive. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Whats the price on each? Seems like the 09 should be a bunch cheaper since it doesn't have the hemi or the lone star package.

If it were me and I was not going to keep it past 6-8 years and the 10 was cheaper, or close with more options I go with the 10, however if you plan on keeping it, and price is not close go with the 09

course if you NEED the Hemi then the 10 wins.

Not sure on the exact price for the 2010 as it will not be on the lot for another week. The dealer is confident he can get me in the 29-31 mark (which I will still try to get a bit lower). The 2009 is priced at 25k

I'd go for the 09 then. Hemi isn't worth 4-6K and not having the lifetime powertrain warranty.

No brainer, the 2010. You get the Hemi, the LoneStar options, your first color choice, and higher resale. Look at it this way, you won't be driving around in the 2010 wishing you had purchased the 4.7 in the wrong color.

If you want an extended warranty on the 2010 you have 48 months to decide if you want to buy one.

Regarding these lifetime warranties, with all the electronics and computers in these trucks do you really want to keep this truck for 15 or 20 years?

I bought an 09 4.7 quad 2wd drive last June and settled for this truck instead of getting the one I wanted. I got a killer deal on it and that is why I bought it. I drove around wishing I had gotten the 4wd drive and the hemi. February 2010 traded in 09 for the Crew cab 4x4 hemi with first color choice. Bottom line is if you settle you won't be happy, just get the one you want and be done with it. I wouldn't sweat the lifetime warranty if you do not keep up on service they will deny it anyway. IMO the warranty sucks, I have a 2007 Jeep Commander with the Hemi and I have the lifetime warranty with that vehicle and it cost a small fortune to maintain. All just to keep the warranty. IMO they did the lifetime thing to get people to spend more at the service center, I must say it is working because the service guy smiles every time I walk in the door. I know you can do the work yourself but loose one reciept and your done. I am sure Chrysler will deny it over anything they can. Just my opinion.

No, but since I put on over 25K miles a year, I might want to keep it for 6 or 7 years
