Protection Group?
When I ordered my Ram i neglected to order the protection group, which consists of tow hooks, and a couple different skid plates. My question is do the Rams without the protection group still have ample protection underneath?
You have plenty of ground clearance, so unless you are doing some serious 4wheeling on rocky terrain, I wouldn't worry about it.
I got a sport which doesn't offer a factory installed protection package, which is strange to me.
However, you can get the factory skid plates from mopar and put them on yourself or have the dealer do it. You can also get the tow hooks as well. But that involves cutting the lower fasica (on a sport). Someone on here did it and posted pics. Looked good.

When I picked up my '09 ST It didn't have any skid plates or tow hooks. My Brother picked up a '10 TRX and made me jealous. I went to the parts department at my local dealer and ordered the Tow Hooks and both skid plates out of the book they had on the counter.
They are super easy to install, The instructions come with everything and are pretty straight forward bolt on. I ordered the TRX fill plate for my front bumper but, the instructions tell you to cut the pockets out for the tow hooks so either way.
Easy install and I would recomend them to anyone!
(Everything about tow hooks and skids were American made)

I ordered my 2500 MegaCab with the protection group and only have one skid plate (more like a "skid saucer") for the transfer case. What was cool though is being to roll under the truck with the creeper without needing to jack it up first! I also see now I must have driven through a puddle.

The '09 Protection Group included 2 skid-plates - 1 for front differential and 1 for transfer case. Neither is overly large, both are mounted with "sacrificial stand-offs" to allow some "crush", and both are slightly up-turned at leading edge. It does seem funny that the oil-pan of the transmission positioned directly between these two plates isn't protected and is only recessed 1-2" above the frame rails and crossmembers. Is it somehow internally reinforced ??
