Default BS Spare - Anyone fit a 20 underneath

I've searched some older posts and was looking to find that someone has actually fit a 20" full size spare underneath the truck and sent the 17" P.O.S. rolling down the highway??? I've ordered a 5th factory rim and have decent rubber left from my 3rd gen that I'll mount on it and replace the 17". Took a tape measure and seems like there is room. Maybe install some heat shield on the exhaust if it's too close. Just a little suprised Dodge would do this. My 03 and 07 had full size 20" steel rim spare!!

Yea, mine said 'full size spare' as well and has the 17" temp spare. As did every other 2009-2010 on the lot.

They are temp spares.

I am not sure if the full 20 size would fit if you have the stock dual exhaust. I think weight also played into this. Probably cost as well

It's worth the effort to me to find out since my commute is about100 miles a day. I don't want to be one of those knuckleheads driving down the highway with a donut doing 70 because 50mph will get you killed!!!!!!

Thanks for the info

If you look at the size of the 17" temp and the stock 20" they are pretty close in diameter so I cant see why a 20" wheel/tire wont fit. I have the dual exhaust and the tire isnt really that close so I think it will fit - if you have the truck and the tire one way to find out

Not sure why they dont do a real full size spare but I guess its better than my old G8 Pontiac that came with a Chinese made plastic air compressor and a can of fix a flat instead of a spare tire.

I have dual exhaust and a full 20 inch spare. The spare has light tread on it and says temporary.

Mine is a 17inch rim but the tire is big, thin though, kinda like a lawn mower tire. But it is as high as the 20", it would have to be because on a 4x4 you have to have all 4 tires pretty much same diameter. If you put a full size heavy rim and tire under there I would be sure to put some safety strap or cable to hold it in case that cable that winds up lets go. Someone else already mentioned weight.

Dunno about you guys but I have a thick red cable with a lock holding my spare in, in addition to the mount. Kinda like a bike lock. I'll get underneath and check the size tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure it's a 20".
