Default TT weight

I also have a 09 1500 crew hemi with a 3.55 rear. Mine is a 4x4 which also reduces tow rating. I pull a 28 foot keystone Hornett with 2 slides and the weight is around 8,000. I live in somewhat flat country and it gets around 6-8 mpg. It handles it but you know it's back there. I'm in the market for a 2500 CTD. My 07 hemi pulled better.

I've been thinking about just a small pop-up for my wife and I. I don't wanna destroy my mileage and there's no way I would even think about pulling a 28ft TT, with a half ton truck!

I pull a 25ft Passport Ultra light with one slide. it weighs 4400lbs and my 4.7 tows it okay. Anymore than that, the 5.7 would be a better choice.

I am in with the crew that thinks the truck is under rated, I overloaded the box in my crewcab by 300 lbs and well I didn't even realize I had anything back there until I got out and saw the back end a little low but it didn't bottom out and the power was there to go, not like old 360 cid pickups that got 8 miles to the gallon but had no power but we pulled 10000 lb trailers, like I said before its a truck and I believe they can do way more than they rate them, would never admit to anyone if I pulled a trailer overweight if I did just in case something blew up but I am sure this truck could easily pull 10grand on a fairly level maybe a few long hills on maybe some higher short ones not sure until I hook one up and give it a go.

I towed a 25FT toyhauler with my 08 1500, I stopped at the scales and it was at 15,600 pounds. I live it WA state and have towed over passes fully loaded with a Polaris RZR in the back. I averaged 8 MPG, but like the other I knew it was there. I've towing over 20,000 miles with this set-up without issues. If I took it over 60 MPH the tranny would start to warm up. I ended up trading the truck in for a Ram 2500 Diesel last month. Best idea ever, that thing doesn't even have to down shift to go up the passes now.

Have any of you upgraded the brakes on your truck - or looked into it? I havent had any braking issues while towing but I'd like to know what options are out there for beefing up the stopping power.

Thanks -

KDubya

i tow a 2010 jayco 26ft tt dry weight 4700 lbs, loaded to about 5500 lbs. It tows it decent, gas mileage is around 8 mpg. I have the 3.55 gears with the hemi crew, tranny does alot of upshifting, even on highway, wish i had the 3.92's tho.
kdubya i never had any brake issues, but i have a brake controller which helps alot for sure..
