So your dealer is saying this flash will give us the fuel saver light on early build 2009 rams.?

Somebody posted a couple of addresses of an engineer and some other people to ask about the eco light so I did and he responded to me today and said there is finally a flash for it and gave me that number I callled the dealership and they checked it and yes its available for my truck so I am gonna take it in tomorrow will post what happens. This is what he sent Finally good news, the Service Bulletin to re-flash the cluster to activate the "Fuel Saver" light is now available. Please take your vehicle to the dealer and ask them to use the following:

I wonder if it will look like the later 09s, where the EVIC reads "Fuel Saver", or whether it will look like the 10s, which are quite different, and it has a little "ECO" logo, along with a bar-graph of instantaneous fuel consumption.

I'd really like my 09 flashed to be like the '10, but at least I have something.

I was super pumped to hear about this so I called my local dealer. No record of it anywhere they say. Maybe I'll wait a couple days and see if they get some kind of notice or something.

good job 72! a little persistence pays off. the EVICs on the the two models (09/10) look like they may be different, maybe even different manufacturers. i would suspect that the new flash-enabled trucks will say "fuel saver" like the other '09s.
i also suspect that those that have been w/o a light altogether will not give a poop what it looks like, as long as it works.

I just hope that the dealer can get it to work!!!!! At first I thought who cares but then I thought it would be nice to know on the highway, could give a crap in the city if I find it switching in and out too much in the city I will just run in 5 th or tow mode whatever to shut it down, I can imagine all that switching back and forth...it reminds me of when gm first came out with overdrive and all the switching back and forth in and out of od caused so many burnt out transmissions in my 84 S-10, it would get rebuilt and the towed home from somewhere on the way to or from Toronto. We would up putting an adaptor plate gm designed and a 350 installed . GM used our pick for a guinea pig and our actually highway usage as real usage to test it. Sucked when the fluid would dump somehow on the exhaust and catch fire and scare the hell out of ya when you are an 18 year old kid just trying to make a buck as courier. After the 350 GM said we were on our own since it worked but the fuel mileage sucked for a 4 cylinder.
