What do you do with it if you need it open while driving to haul something large? Does it lock in place in the open position?

yes it locks in the open position . there are rods on each side of the rail that locks into the top. i just installed it today and haven't tried it out yet , so i'm only going by what bakflip says .

Had some heavy rain a few hours ago and the bed is dry! Apparently the spacers ARE NEEDED on the 2010 despite what BakFlip says. So I went from my 90% happy to 100%.

HEMISPORT10..I wouldn't worry about how the cover sits on the cab. The rubber bumpers cushion the contact point and the support arms do keep it from bouncing around. I put the rubber bumpers in the center and on mine it offsets the cover enough that the ends are nowhere near the cab.

jri ... i put mine in the same spot . i will look into the tailgate weather stripping just for futher protection .
