Thumbs down Service Intervals - WTF?

Was at dealer today to check on my tranny issue...but I just got pissed and left....that's a whole nother issus!
However, while there, I asked what needed to be done to make sure that my Chyrsler Lifetime Warranty remains in tact. The service advisor said that I had to make sure I stayed current on service. According to her.....the major three are:

Front & Rear Differential fluid change every 15k
Transmission Flush every 30k
Plugs every 30k

15k for differential changes....c'mon! That's ridiculous!
And tranny at 30k ain't that far behind ridiculous!
Or is it just me????????

I don't know what they are looking at. Those are not the maintenance intervals in the manual.

I was gonna say the spark plugs are right but the other stuff I would have to look but I don't think so, oh but you have lifetime guarantee so yours might be different, so it is true they want our trucks to puke so we have to spend money on a new one. Maybe we should follow the lifetime maintenance agreement even if we don't have it, seems Dodge does not want us to have our trucks last too long.

Change the engine oil and engine oil
filter.

Rotate tires.

Replace the engine air cleaner filter.

Replace the top row of spark plugs
(4.7L Engine).

Replace the spark plugs (3.7L and
5.7L Engines).
Inspect the transfer case fluid.
60,000 Miles (100,000 km) or 60 Months Maintenance Service
Schedule
Change the engine oil and engine oil filter.

Rotate tires.

Replace the engine air cleaner filter.

Inspect the brake linings; replace if necessary.

Replace the ignition cables (3.7L Engine).

Replace the top row of spark plugs (4.7L Engine).

well , it looks like you HAVE to change those fluids at those times IF you use your vehicle for "hard" use as stated.

police/frequent towing etc.....

and once again. IF is the key word here....

If not towing/police or off roading the differentials are only a fliud level check. The dealer can recommend changing the fliud all they want but all it takes to make warranty requirments is whats in the owners manual.

That service person is not up to speed. 15K was for 3rd Gen Rams. 4th is 30K on the differentials. Sad when people who's job is not to know this stuff turns out to know more than the pros. I would send a letter to the dealer manager/owner and CC Chrysler so it gets his/her attention.

15k is also TOWING/off roading etc. My 03 Dodge dually has AAM axels(American Axel Manufacters) and 15k is for full time towing etc.Otherwise the fliud change is like 100k or such.

If you want the truck to last, do the required maintance.
They don't require it for the hell of it. They test parts for hundreds of thousands of miles to be able to make them last the longest they possibly can and that is by recomending certain things to be done at certain intervals.

Do them yourself and just document and save everything.
