Dont you guys get free towing when the truck is broken down under warranty. In Canada we get 5 years free towing..more or less auto club service but they won't tow you for free if it's an accident even if you are getting it fixed at their dealership. First question comes out of my mouth before they give me an estimate is will I be reimbursed for the towing if I get my truck fixed here if they say no then I have a back up body shop that I prefer but take longer cuz they are always busy, you know you see those women in BMW's and nice cars like that well this guy got smart opened across the street from a high end car mall, Mercedes, BMW, Mazda a few others. Well those women are smashing these cars up so much and usually parking lots accidents. This guy is a preferred shop for European car owners, always a Ferrari or Lambo or something like that in there. He won't work on a car if it has rust. He does not want rust in his shop LOL. Does a great job but like I said you wait your turn and your turn when you have a Dodge pickup might change if a Lambo tboned comes in.

OK Part two and three of the story.
Yes it happened just up the street about 500 yards or so. I actually walked the street and some people were having a great big BBQ party at our HOA club house. TTwo guys were out front and watched me with my flashlight walking around looking for the plug. They joined in and one of the guys found it. He had already had few too many beers and was waving it around like "I found it I found it" "How much is worth to ya....Duh!" Eventually I got it back, put it back in the truck and filled the pan again. It has not moved since.

Part three.
I got off the phone with them a few minutes ago. It is getting picked up tomorrow morning by their truck. I am getting a loaner until it can be looked at. I asked about warranty if anything goes wrong and they will have a claims form that will state that it will be covered under the Lifetime power train warranty, with a report of whatever they find. yeah right. Like they are going to find anything. I also made sure to remind them that I have bought every Dodge truck I have owned from them, 8 to be exact, and expect a really good deal on my next truck when it comes time next year. (I buy new every three years...)

In the back of m y mind I am thinking of trading it right now. I got o% financing, so it won't hurt me much if they give me a good price on a new 2010 and keep my 0% status.... Hmmmm.....

IMO, that would be great. (If they give a reasonable trade in, 0% on the 2010, and a great price on the 2010). I would trade in a heart beat. Especially, since you don't keep truck that long, the lifetime warranty doesn't mean much. I tend to keep vehicles 10-12 years.

Good job ramulak, sounds like you have a pretty decent dealership. Not sure about the service department, but overall good dealer. I'm sure that happens (loose plug) more than we would like to know about.
As far as getting a good deal on a new vehicle, I would also bet that the sooner you do it the better your deal will be getting. Out of sight, out of mind and all.
Thx again for sharing, I for one will be checking on my plug after oil changes.

Get rid of that truck ASAP.

I'd keep it, especially if your only keeping it three years. It shouldn't be damaged going the distance it went with no oil

If it happened that close to home the opportunity for damage is pretty low. Definitely still have them check it out, but it's likely to not be a major issue.

OH ya have it checked out, I think it will be fine. What I wanna know I might have missed it but when you put the plug in was it stripped? Or did the punk kid doing the oil change finger tighten it and forget to torque it? That would put the onus on the dealership, personally Iwould rather have Chrysler warranty it.

No, not stripped at all. Went right in and tightened right up. No slipping at the end of the tightening...

As far as out of sight, out of mind.....I am there quite a bit. Like I said I have bought all of my trucks there as well as some of the trucks in the company fleet.

They better not forget me.......
