Lost my oil drain plug....messy.....Long read!
Somebody gonna get a spot in the unemployment line. That is like the one of the two most things u should be careful about...that and oil in the crankcase. Unbelievable. I think that kind needs training.
That's why I will never buy a used vehicle, the dealership will just sell the truck to some unsuspecting guy at a nice little profit and never tell him there was a problem. (not that the OP should worry about that, I would get rid of the truck right quick)
Sorry it has been a few days. Very busy me!
well I got the truck back. They had given me a loaner truck 2010 Sport.
Noticed a few things I'l point out later.
I went to the dealer and sat in theoffice while they desribed what they found. Basically nothing. They borescoped each cylinder and pulled the valve covers to look at the camshafts I guess. Found no scoring or galling. Put it back together and handed me the keys. I asked about what would happen if something went wrong again? they told me I am still covered under the Manufacturers lifetime power train warranty for as long as I own the vehicle.
I made sure to get a copy of the work performed and the reason why stated on the form. Sometimes they can be vague in describing the reason for the work and I wanted it in plain writing that the plug had fallen out.
Now of course they did not admit to their guy not tightening the plug...because nowhere on the form does it say that.
So I have my truck back.....
Now something I noticed while driving the new 2010. It is louder in the cab than my truck. I don't know if anyone noticed this....
I have a professional decibel meter from my car stereo days, and measured the new truck on the same road at the same speeds in the same weather.
The new Ram was about 4-5 decibels louder at all RPMs, and my old truck has the Mufflex exhaust. So I would assume that my early '09 would be quite a bit quieter if it had the stock exhaust. Did they have more sound deadening material in the earlier trucks for some reason? Because aerodynamically they are pretty much the same.
With the drivers window down at 40mph I get 101db, in my truck. I did not measure window down in the new truck.
I also noticed it shifts slightly sooner on the new truck. Mine stays in first longer when at full throttle.
Anyway just a couple of things I noticed different.

This story is everyones nightmare. At least it happened close to home and was caught quickly it appears. Hopefully it didn't leak all out first then come out causing damage. Good luck with it.
