Default last place 390 hp :(

With Fords new 6.2 v8 411 hp engine available already in the 150 rapter and Harley Davidson 150, it will be a matter of time before the motor is available in regular 335 hp f150s, with Gms 401 hp trucks out there what are the chances Ram will up to the 6.1 or new 6.4 hemi to put us back in our rightfull place... on top!! ?

dodge hasn't been on top for years before the 4th gens were released. Gm's 6.0 in their half ton trucks had more power than the old hemi made. more horsepower does not make them better trucks. As long as we are within 15hp then thats good enough since an extra 10hp on top of 390hp is not going to make them any better at towing.

I'm comming from an 89 Toyota V6 3.0 with a whopping 150hp! With 390hp I couldn't care less if the GM or Ford has a few more hp than me. It's all just bragging rights anyway, most of us could get by with far less than the 390hp we have now. I know I can. I've been doing it for years.

Do I really need 400 HP...no. I would rather get 350 and an extra 5 mpg. Even though the engine is capable of 390, most users will never actually use it.

What I find hilarious is when somebody else other than Ford comes out with some goodies they don't have that is taking some of their market share they just do a quick redo and come out with a 2011 truck in May of 2010? That is BS. Why not just do the upgrades to the vehicle midyear and have everyone bitch and do research to see if it can be retorfitted to their trucks like us RAM owners do.LOL Ford has and always will have the biggest market share due to loyalty programs they have. My uncle used to buy Ford for over 30 years then one time when returning a lease car/truck they wanted to boost his payment 100 a month for 3 year lease for the same vehicle, same model options. He bought and or leased from this place for 30 years remember, he even said he would split the cost, they said no. He left called me to see if Uncles qualify for the discount, this was around bankruptcy time for the states which allowed us Canadians to enjoy some outrageous sales, so I told he yes and if it doesn't I am allowed to have one person per year that gets the same deal I would minus the now defunked EP Bonus. So he traded a 2004 loaded RAM 70.000kms, and a srt 6 crossfire low kms also I think it was a few years newer.Took the new RAM no cash out of his pocket in fact he got a few bucks, looks like an r/t but did not have the badge. Loaded, dealer put tint, mopar tubes, most expensive tonneau, like 3 grand and its not a one piece hard top, it folds but I haven't seen it but he loves it says not a drop off water gets in,Nav, 3:92 with LSD, I was pissed here I get him the deal and I buy one at the same time but a CC anyway when he was looking it over I noticed the keyed tailgate lock I thought cool, his was already hooked up to power at factory sometime after Jan 09, anyway I had not noticed I didn't have the lock at the time, just assumed I did. So when I picked up my truck and said hey where the lock and I got the answer they weren''t in the early build vehicles. I said put one on, they said they can't it won't fit.(my first bad impression of this dealership, at the time I didn't know any better so I just said bummer, I got the tint for free the bedrug and running tubes paid for under handicap plan and they took over a lease car only 9 months into it best part was the payment was due the day after he took it so they had to make that payment. It was a Charger..i liked that car. Either a Challenger or Charger in the future, depending on what they do with engines, I hear the hemi goes bye bye in cars? Hopefully more BS. Anyway GM and Ford and getting out of the haggling business and just saying thats the price you either like it or you don't. Now I know myself I like to haggle, its part of the process of buying a car, part of the fun, why do they need salespersons if there is no haggling. They just need a bunch of people working in finance and at the cash window. Maybe a few people to manage test drives and keep track of the cars.
My favorite is to go somewhere that I not gonna buy the vehicle and make a great deal on paper but have to show my wife...she couldn't come cuz she was working BS BS anyway then when I go to buy it I have something to go by as far as a price etc. So when they tell me a price that is more than my deal I show them and they say we can match that, I say match? If I wanted to pay that amount I would just buy it from the first guy I want you to beat it. They always match the price rarely move on the numbers cuz its employee pricing but they always throw in stuff, tint, bedliner/rug, stone guard, running boards whatever the trucks usually get loaded up with on the lot.
Glad to hear you like your truck sorry for the ramble if you read this far, but 10 HP big deal and I don't think they are comparing same model truck???

The rumor is the new 6.4 will be going only to the SRT truck and some of the other SRT models. Perhaps that'll push the 6.1 into the 1500s, but which model would get it would be anyone's guess (R/T maybe?).

While the other guys might have a tad more power, I think the RAM is still the overall winner. GM's trucks have been crap for awhile, Toyota is well a Toyota, and the Nissan is cool but older than dirt. Fords are nice, but I'm not completely sold on their new styling, plus everyone and their brother owns a Ford, so I'm not hot on being a lemming.

hemi is is a 345 cubic in, the ford needs a extra 45 cubes + to brag abought, so big deal. in a 5000 lbb truck, a extra 40 h/p is not giving you rocket performance over a truck with 40 h/p less.

Ford has been under powerd with the 5.4 and the the 5.43v, so the Ford boys need a engine to be smacked down once agian, here comes a 6.2, let the smacking began.

Ford keeps reinventing what they have failed to build ( 5.4 ) 5.7 hemi has been arround a lot longer than Fords chronic build run.

I have put manny a triton V/10 behind my hemi tail lights, so if Ford can bring some power to the table,. great !!!

Remember guy's, torque is the more important than HP in our trucks especially for towing.

HP is just roadspeed. Torque is the rating for the available 'pulling' power to get that heavy load up the hill.

I wouldn't worry about the HP unless you plan on racing. If you are you can get an intake/exhaust,programmer that will put you well past 400hp. If that's not enough there are companys that will sell you VVT cams or a 6.1,6.4, and even a 426-440 new gen Hemi. It drops right into your truck plus they even provide the custom tuning. Which is something I might look into in the future.

This happens every couple years, one will add a few to have more than the other...

Show me a GM 1500 RCSB (or any RC for that matter) with more HP than the Ram.

As for the Raptor, I think you can get that in a RC, but it is not setup to be "truck fast".
