14" Magnaflow Too Loud. Suggestions?
I have the 14" Magnaflow and love the sound. I do find there is quite a bit of drone around the 80km/hr point but after 85 I hardly hear it. When on the highway cruising I don't hear a thing. I left my stock resonators on and just replaced the muffler.
I have the magnaflo 18 and it sounds good, drone isnt too bad in my opinion. The wife doesnt complain and actually likes it. I actually wish it was a bit louder but they
didnt have the 14" in stock when i got it so the 18" it is. I am going to assume you left the resonators on. i would suggest a 18" or perhaps if you still have your stock muffler put it back on and remove the resonators. I believe someone on here has done that and liked it....or maybe that was a different forum..hmmmm

Seriously though yours doesn't seem as loud as mine, but videos are deceiving.
Yep, resonators are still on. I wish I would've gone with the 18". I'm leaning towards that or the 24" now. Not sure I want to put the stock muffler back on, but I did keep it just in case.
I think your videos are what made me decide to go with the 14" so this is all your fault

I should have posted a video of a drive by and of one accelerating (outside of the truck). Just revving the engine doesn't really give the true sound or loudness. I have heard the 18" is just a little louder than stock but don't take my word for it. Obviously my word doesn't mean much at this point!
Ooops....sorry about that!

Thanks! I agree that it's hard when you can't hear it in person. When I got mine I just went with what other people wer saying about the muffler. I am lucky that I really liked the sound!
You can always try putting the stock muffler back on and just cutting the resonators out. That's what I did and it's loud enough for me (also no drone).
Or you can try the setup by Corsa. They claim no drone and Corsa always sounds good.

I'm selling the stock dual exhaust off of my 2010 Ram 1500 Sport (Dodge site says it has an "Aggressive Tone" for $100 if anyone is interested. Has the 4 inch rolled chrome tips on it. It will bolt right on, has the clamps and everything.
I'm leaning towards the 18" or 24" Magnaflow as I do really like the Magnaflow sound on these trucks. The stock one is still an option though if all else fails. I'll have to check out the Corsa. They seem to be pretty spendy though.
I will be watching this thread....I have pretty much decided on an 18" magnaflow, only decided against the 14" because I don't want to have to spend the extra money to change it if its too loud. I have read quite a few threads that say the 18" isn't very loud unless you get on it.
My only concern with a 24" magnaflow is that it wouldn't be enough of a difference to justify the cost involved.
