Default 14" Magnaflow Too Loud. Suggestions?

I had a 14" Magnaflow SI/DO welded in last week and it's too loud for the wife and baby. I think the drone at certain RPM's is what gets to them the most. I have to admit it can get annoying. Any suggestions on what I should replace it with? I was considering an 18" Magnaflow, but I'm worried it won't be that much different. I'm also looking at the Flowmaster 50 HD. Almost forgot, this is on a 2010 Crew Cab 4x4 Hemi with factory duals. Thanks!

FM will not be any better. 24 Manga. Gibson's systems are also usually tame.

Now for further sugggestion.... This fight/battle with the wife is not worth it. "To loud" will be in her head given she is use to stock sound, then you will dig a deeper hole by spending more $$ or another "loud" after market muffler Go back to stock or find someone with a R/T who replaced their muffler and get theirs. It was suppose to be a little more aggressive than the standard SI-DO.

I will be watching this thread....I have pretty much decided on an 18" magnaflow, only decided against the 14" because I don't want to have to spend the extra money to change it if its too loud. I have read quite a few threads that say the 18" isn't very loud unless you get on it.

My only concern with a 24" magnaflow is that it wouldn't be enough of a difference to justify the cost involved.

No fight/battle at all. She likes a good sounding exhaust as much as I do. I totally agree with her that the drone and sound is a little too much on this one. I had 40 series FMs on several vehicles and the drone on the 14" Magnaflow is comparable in my opinion. It's definitely more pronounced than I expected. Maybe it's the MDS. I'm not sure. My old 06 Hemi Durango with a 50 series didn't seem this bad though.

I have the exact same concern about the 24". I think you would be happy with the 18", provided the drone isn't as noticeable. Don't get me wrong, the 14" sounds great. It's just quite a bit louder than I thought it would be.

Too bad you welded it right away I might have purchased it off you. I don't want to spend any money at the exhaust shop

It's just the muffler anyway not the Mufflex. Total to have it put on, muffler and install, was $160 so at least I'm not out too much when I switch

I've got a 14" magnaflow and it's louder than I like. If you want to reduce the drone dump the exhaust past the rear axle. Your exhaust will sound good w/ a 24" and pretty much stock until you get on the gas.

I have a Borla single in dual out and it is quiet when your cruising. When you step on the throttle is loud. No drone

I have the magnaflo 18 and it sounds good, drone isnt too bad in my opinion. The wife doesnt complain and actually likes it. I actually wish it was a bit louder but they
didnt have the 14" in stock when i got it so the 18" it is. I am going to assume you left the resonators on. i would suggest a 18" or perhaps if you still have your stock muffler put it back on and remove the resonators. I believe someone on here has done that and liked it....or maybe that was a different forum..hmmmm

I installed the 24'' magnaflo and am extremely happy with it. Loud when you get on it, no drone in the cab. I have the swept side muffler set up on mine, with dual exit.
