Default First time towing...no problem

I finally took my first road trip with the Ram towing my '81 T/A to my dads house in Fla from NC. Driving down I-95 using the tow/haul mode with the cruise set at about 70-75, I managed an avg of 13.5 mpg. This truck is amazing! It rides and tows like a dream. Never felt like I was pulling anything. I love it! And on the way back to NC w/o the trailer but carrying a propane grill and 4 tires/rims the truck managed 18.5 mpg at 75 on cruise. Not bad.

Also, before leaving, I installed Timbren SES rubber springs in place of the original bump stops. They look like oversize bump stops on steroids. I knew the rear end would sag with a load and wanted something other than bags in the springs. They work awesome on keeping the truck level with a load. Anyone looking for other than air bags, I would highly recommend the Timbrens!

In mid June, I will definitely put the Ram to the test as I will be moving to Anchorage, Ak driving from Fla. Thank god for VES and Wii to keep the kids busy!!

Do you have pics of the springs or a link to them?

So just a little over $180? How long did the install take?

What gears do you have? They both look pretty good! Gotta be close to 4700 plus pounds total. Florida to Alaska, man, that'll be a long haul!!

Did you have to remove anything to do the install? Perhaps some pics

It took me less than an hour to install. Pretty easy. I'll try to take some pics of them installed. At the time of installing, I didn't have my camera. Here is the instructions that came with the springs:

I have the 3.92 LSD setup.

Yea, that U-Haul auto-transport is the same one I'm gonna tow my Stang Vert in early July, I'm looking at about 3500lbs, going from Ft Sill,Ok to El Paso,Tx(650 miles) So I guess the light wiring from the trailor plugs right into our bumper huh? Wish me luck, I've never towed anything before, I figure if I don't go over 65mph I'll be alright.

That was my first time towing also. I used the side mirrors a lot! The trailer light plug goes into the top connector on our trucks. I cruised about 70-75 with no issues at all.

The only issue I had was when I returned the trailer and the uhaul folks wanted me to back it in a certain spot...now that sucked for a first timer! Good Luck!

Yea, I'm not looking forward to having to back the trailor up as well, I figure when I go to U-Haul in El Paso, I'll pull in, disconnect in a open area and go in and settle up,lol lol.
