Stopped by the ford dealer today...
My wifes 2008 mariner was having trans trouble again (2nd time in the shop) so we went to drop it off...
while i was there i noticed 3 raptors... and they were staring at me
so i got a little closer... then i got in....
then i thought OMFG this is cool...
the seats are really done nice... the look in person totally kills anything you've seen in a book.
the only reason i wouldnt strongly consider trading my ram for it is the $45,000 sticker (got my laramie for 33k), my financial loss on my current ram and the fact that they only have a extended cab version.
i was scared to take a test drive in that bright blue baby... because i might have to sell my truck, imac, photography equipment, watch, blood, plasma and first born to get into that truck
im guessing with the $20,000 extra it would cost me to sell my truck and finance the new ford i could raise my truck up and throw a locker in it, some fox shocks and other items and still come out better than getting the raptor..
i love my ram.. but im not a bleeding mopar guy...
that raptor is something special

The only negative is the raptor can only hold 930 lbs in the bed and would not work for me otherwise it's a nice looking truck, but can't see it being 45,000 + tax and financing you'll be in the 55,000 dollar range for a truck. There is an article about the raptor in Truck trend.
Another question to ask yourself. Would you take a brand new $45,000 dollar truck out and beat the hell out of it?? Of Course Ford will they are trying to sell their product. I have the 09 TRX 4 package I probally wont touch rough mud until it is at least 5 years old.
be sure it has the 6.2L and not the lethargic 5.4. From what I understand, SVT did not do any tuning to the 5.4L in the early builds and the 6.2L was due out some time this year. I had always been an F150 guy but got tired of waiting for a new power setup and jumped to Dodge in 09 for this very reason.
the 6.2 is out, seen a raptor at my local ford stealership with one......i wanna say it was 46,000
the raptor has alot of goodies that are not practical for everyday road driving, the shows ive seen on it showed the computer programs it has for desert racing and hill climbing and decents and all that at a push of a button
great to have to show off and id love to have one but hard to see getting one for a everyday driver

I have been getting estimates on my house lately and every estimator that has come has shown up in a ford pickup, but they sure look at my RAM and almost drool. They spend more time looking over my truck then they do on the estimates.
