Default Remote Start

When I bought my truck I got a deal I couldn’t say no to. Only thing was it didn’t have the remote start that I SO loved on my last ram. I've spoken to my dealer service tech and they make an aftermarket Mopar unit for $235 bucks with a $120 dollar install charge. I’ve read that the dealer has to do this for the reprogramming of the system.

Has anyone done this yet?

Also had it done. The first dealer fried the new WIN and my existing WIN. I took it to another dealer and it went off without a hitch. Love it and use it all the time. Hitting 93 degrees here with about 101 heat index.

Cheaper to go non-mopar aftermarket. But you may loose some of the intregation features.

If you go aftermarket and ever have any electrical issues at all, be prepared to fight for warranty coverage. Dealers here flat out tell you that an aftermarket install will void your warranty for any electrical issues. Whether or not they can actually do that is a good question but you can bet it would be a PITA.

Yeah I was thinking about going with an alarm and remote start...only thing is I dont want additional keys or fobs etc in my pocket-the key is large enough in addition to my house keys etc. I like that its all on my key. Do they even make an after market alarm that can operate off my key?

By the time you are in range to remote start, you can just get in and start it.

Guess it comes down to factory remote start with a single key or after market alarm with remote start with a key and a fob for the alarm? opinions?
