Please explain the in's & out's of leveling to me.
I want to level my truck so I can fit 35's under it. (09 SLT 4x4 Crew)
So here's what I dont understand,
1. Death Wobble--I have read this topic to death, I have heard some get it some dont, some only get it in 4x4, A IFS truck does not get it at all (so no 09's?) my local mod shop wont touch my truck beacuse of it. Just want a straight answer on it.
2. Will a leveling kit give me enough clearance to fit 35x12.5x17's?
Can I put those on my factory rims?
Will they bottom out if I hit a good sized bump?
Will I need to get a programmer to set custom tune for new tires, and spedo?
Do I need spacers?
Do I need fender flares?
Ive read so many conflicting things, I just would like someone with some insight to help me understand. Searching thru the posts, it seems like I can never find advice about the same set-up with the same mods that I want.
Any help is much appreciated
Regards
Rob

Might not get "death wobble" but anytime you mess with stock suspension geometry you can get handling issues, especially if the manufacturer of the lift has not provided the additional adjustments and angle corrections needed.
leveling your truck will be by cranking the torsion bars and or buying bigger torsion bar keys.
when lifting just the front end by messing with the stock geometry your alignment will be out of spec the further you go up. as for any vehicle.
as for spacers, i would wait to see how much rubbing you have if any or if you want aftermarket rims get a rim with backspacing.
as for flares you will need to look at your local laws and see how much tire you can have sticking out past the fenders. (here in minnesota limit is 1.5 to 2 inches)

EDIT: looked it up and the factory rims are 17x8. There would be no issue mounting 12.5" wide tires on that size rim. Happens to be the same width I run on my jeep with 35's.

BTW - the law in MN does not say anything about 1-2". It reads:
169.734 AUTOMOBILE FENDERS.
Every passenger automobile shall have fenders, or other devices, that are designed to prevent, as far as practicable, water, dirt, or other material being thrown up and to the rear by the wheels of the vehicle.

Just put a 2.5 front 3/4 rear lift on and now my truck does shimmy in 4x4, not death wobble though, thats something different. Put on 35x12.50/20 on my stock rims and there is slight rubbing on the A-arms at full turn but just orderd .25 inch spacers so that should take care of that. Also ordered pocket fender flares but just for looks not required.
