Question May sell my '09 Ram 1500 Sport

Boys, I've love the Dodge, but something's gotta go. I'm thinking about selling my '09 Ram, my rice burning Kia commuter car and '95 Sierra Farm truck and getting a nice clean 2nd Gen Cummins 4x4. I would save $300-500 a month on a payment & insurance. I could work, commute and play with the 2500. I can't imagine abusing my '09 on the farm & it gets less than half the MPG than the Kia. It retailed for $42,000 last February when I bought it. I've added chrome door handles and a bed liner. You guys think I can get $33,000.00 for pay off?

New trucks off the lot are going for over 10k off in some markets. With the 2011's coming out and yours being an 09, chances are slim you'd get that much, chrome handles or not... Condition, mileage, and how much factory warranty remain will play a major factor too.

That's more than I paid for my nearly loaded '09 Sport new (which stickered at 40k+). So yes 33k is probably a stretch.

Good plan tho. Even if you take a hit on the sale of the Sport your savings over the life of the 2500 will make up for it

KBB is $8000 less than pay off on Trade In value for a "Good" rating. Ouch! I saw a 2001 Ram 2500 Cummins with 87K miles beauty that looked like new for <$15,000.00 on e bay the other day. Do dealers ever wheel and deal via e bay? Even if they did me the favor and trade, I doubt the bank would finance a 9 year old truck for 5 years. I just hate to see the '09 Ram parked 90% of the time. The Kia's a great car, but it ain't no Ram truck! Thanks guys, have a good one, Dave.

Wow, and I thought I got a good deal at $10k off. I need car buying lessons from you! Great deal.

Was looking at trading my 2009 in a few months ago on a new 2010 that I saw and really liked. The sticker on my sport was $42k and the dealer was going to give me $32k for my 2009. Might be worth kicking some tires at the dealerships and seeing what they'll give you.

I find that hard to believe, that is unless you were going to over pay for the new truck. By over pay I mean anything close to sticker.
