Towing when new?

You really shouldn't tow until the rear ring and pinion have a chance to break-in. This is done by a few sessions of heating and cooling. Also it's not good to pull at a constant speed with a new engine and transmission.

500 miles is the accepted break-in period on newer vehicles which are manufactured to tighter tolerances than they were years ago.

You'll be fine...

According to the manual, there is no minimum odo to start towing, but it recommends not exceeding 50 mph for the first 500 miles of towing. I did that and it drove me nuts. Somehow the truck wanted to go faster.

Yeah our jeep has the same change engine oil light. Just turn your key to on (not starting it) and then press the gass petal 3 times slowely. This resets it.
