I'm sorry but i disagree with the other guy ..

I bought my light bar SPECIFICALLY for safety purposes ... amongst other reasons .. i also wanted brighter reverse .. i thought the light bars WHITE leds would brighten up reverse .. my mistake ..

Having been rearended myself, its NOT FUN ... the light bars DO HELP .. like the other poster said .. they ARE EYE LEVEL and DO HELP people see whats up ...

the scanning part is what really sets it off .. in ADDITION to my turn signals indicating im turning, the AMBER lights also scan to the left or right when turning .. THAT was the clincher for me when i bought the bar ..
I LOVE MINE and if mine died, i would pay again to replace it immediately ...

Is it more than a year old? Shouldn't it be under warranty?

As for the 'flashing' causing problems, that is unlikely. Look at all of the other places you see LEDs used in flashing situations. Blinkers on many vehicles, for instance. LEDs are not sensitive to on/off cycles.

if you dont like someones modifications... dont click on the link that is the subject of that mod
Solid lights I agree with, instant-on LEDs even better. However, animated, flashing, scanning, whatever, I consider them to be a safety issue and should be banned. They draw my eye disproportionately to them, thus stopping me from seeing what the other vehicles on the Interstate are doing, particularly in the wet.

There's a fleet of public transport buses in my area that have them, and I'll do my best to get away from them being in my field of vision. Interestingly, it's on their older buses, and the newer ones don't have this dangerous feature.

I do wonder what the purchasers of these things think they are adding to their vehicles, it does nothing for the driver, and just cheapens the appearance of the vehicle to others.

I don't buy the "if you don't like it, don't post" argument (unless that's a directive from Internet Brands). Some say that XYZ modification looks good, others say it doesn't. What's the problem with voicing either opinion?

@ BigBlueEdge – Yes Sir you would think. It is more than a year old, but not under warranty by Go Recon. They also have a new model coming out to prevent against voltage fluctuation, which might cause this to occur. They are offering me a substantial discount on the new version, so I’m going to take that offer. It should bring the cost down significantly.

@ oldjeep – I found it to be a ground for the root cause, but for the lightbar that doesn’t work, I think it had to do with a voltage surge. At least that was my thoughts on it. Their new model prevents against this type of failure (They should be releasing out august 1 ish timeframe)

Added Note:

I do wonder what the purchasers of these things think they are adding to their vehicles, it does nothing for the driver, and just cheapens the appearance of the vehicle to others.

That's your opinion and I respect that, but I feel you are "over-thinking" this a bit (Its a lightbar).... I have received a lot of valuable feedback from this forum, so to ensure I give back, want to share my experiences with the group. I have feedback for some of the mods I have seen in this forum I don't really agree with, however, won't post a comment to "Ding" or "knock" someones modification. In addition, there are "Tactful" ways to voice your opinion that both A) get your point across and B) try to be respectful of the individual.

Just my two cents-

Signing off this thread..

there is a difference in saying "i dont like it" and calling it a childish upgrade.

people frequently tell me my truck does not fit their taste.. and thats great. im glad there are people witch different styles so i can see a variety of bad *** truck.

but if someone says something like.. "hey Doc your truck looks like you rolled out of the projects, 24s are for thugs" ...see thats different.

had you can in here and said "i dont care for led bars" ..thats fine... thats stating your opinion.. but your remarks were derogatory in nature.

i made a mistake here one time and said "your gonna put hubcaps on your ride?" ..without continuing my thought that you could get aftermarket wheels for not much more than he paid.. i was jumped on quick for being rude. and while i wont retract my question.. i see their point

but dont worry.. this isnt a big deal.. and will be forgotten in a few threads.

I personally know six people who have bought these, all various brands. None of them are working properly as I type this. LEDs are supposed to last for decades, so what is the problem with the technology here???

I like the bars but have seen a lot of vehicles with some of the LED's burnt out. It would drive me up the wall if they weren't all working the way they're supposed to. I'll wait until they make them to OEM quality to take the plunge.

I'm starting to think that maybe water is getting in there and messing stuff up...
