Toyo, Pro Comp or Nitto Tires?
These reports were written in 2004 and 2005 and these tires never even existed then. Sam could be said for Toyota. But I doubt that's gonna keep buyers from buying there cars. Appriate it Hammer, Ill be honest Im still on the fence with this decision and hoping I'm making the right one.
Ive seen negative reports on every tire that I have looked at.

That is true, that link was posted the other day on a Jeep forum I'm on and it stuck in my head when I read what you got.
I read posts, reports, reviews, etc. all the time where one guy will bash the hell out of a tire and swear he kept 'em rotated, aired properly and couldn't get 15k out of them and the next review of the same tire will tell how the guy got 80k out of them.
That's like you discounted the Nitto's for wet pavement and noise. It's rated second only to the Firestone Destination in wet pavement performance and it's rated as one of the quietest A/Ts made. Exact opposite of what you read. I know the set on my Grand Cherokee are as quiet as my soccer mom tires they replaced and they stick to wet pavement like velcro. I know they won't do what my Cepeks will do in the mud, but that's not why I got them. The only question I have is wear, I know the Mickey ATZs I wanted wear like iron, but am hoping I will get at least 40k out of the Nittos. Only time will tell.
Good luck with your choice...
My only concern with the Pro Comps is I personally know guys with them who hated them, and I've heard first hand how 4 Wheel Parts came up with every excuse in the book to not honor warranty. But again, this is prior to the Xtreme series.

I have friends who run the Nitto Terra Grappler and they love them. Unfortunately they don't make the 35"s in a 12.5 and I really wanted something a little more aggressive. However I really do not need a mud tire.
I was still on the fence even this morning and was almost tempted to call and change the order to the Toyos simply becuase I really like how they look. I decided to call a couple other tire shops and ask them what they thought of the two tires. What they told me was that everyone seems to love how both tires ride however, they have seen that most people are having to replace the Toyos after 25-30k miles and that most people if they properly rotate them are getting 50k miles on average out of the Pro Comps. That was enough for me to realize that I think I'm making the right choice. We will see.
The pro comps just make more sense for me. Better price, longevity, the right size and a warranty.

That's your difference between an A/T and a M/T tire. On average, you can figure about 15-20k miles more out of an A/T tire.
Have a really good buddy with a set of Mickey Thompson ATZs on his Cheby 2500 whose approaching 80k on them. Just about down to where I'd be replacing them now, but he wants to stretch 'em to 100k just so he can say he did it...

I had a set of Toyo Open Country A/T on my Dakota, and they were the best tire i have ever had. Quiet, and solid in the snow and any non asphalt driving situations. I'm not saying I went mudding, or hard core off roading, but the camping in the woods and taking it on trails. I live in Syracuse NY, and our winters are pretty severe, usually get about 160 or so inches a year. I was out in a snow storm and my buddy had asked me how much weight i kept in my bed, I said none, he then proceeded to ask me if i had it in 4 wheel drive, and i said i no, and he honestly didn't believe me. I Just bought a 2010 Ram and I cant wait to replace my OEM tires with these.
