Default Toyo, Pro Comp or Nitto Tires?

I'm trying to decide between the following 35 x 12.50 tires.

Nitto Trail Grappler
Toyo Open Country MT
Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrain

All have gotten great reviews. From what Ive read the Toyo and Pro Comp tires seem to be quieter on the street then the Nittos.

Let me know if you have any advice, recommendations or thoughts on these.

Nitto IS Toyo, same company so the quality is gonna be similar.

I don't know about the Xtreme series, but mention Pro Comp around my hunting club and you'll get stuff thrown at you. Pro Comp distributor made a big "push" around here about four or five years ago. Posters, calendars, etc. at all the local tire shops and really aggressive pricing.

Lot of guys bought them at that time and NOBODY was happy! I personally know a guy who took off his mud terrain tires at 18k cause they were BALD!

Now this is when they offered the standard A/T & M/T tires and not the "Xtreme" series. Maybe they are better, but I ain't one to find out...

my vote goes for nitto trail grapplers.

i have owned
nitto terra grappler,
toyo open country m/t,
pro comp xtreme,
mickey thompson baja atz,
dick cepek fc-II,
bf goodrich rugged trail,
good year wranglers
and so on

nittos were the best bang for the buck
well at least back when i had them they were.
i got set of 4 285 75 16 for 550$

but the longest lasting were my dick cepek fc-II's

I'm running the ProComp Xtreme A/T 35x12.5. Fantastic tire IMHO. No road noise what so ever. There is a slight shimmy from about 58 to 62 mph, causes the steering wheel to rock about a 1/8" each way from center. Getting great tire wear as well. I just went over 16K and the wear is barely noticable. Tire shop said that you should get about 40k if you rotate.

Gas mileage, that is another story. I get about 15 mpg on the highway at 70-75 mph.

I gotta concur with that! Have run nothing but Mickey Thompson tires for about 15 years prior to my current FCIIs. (for those who don't know, Mickey Thompson is also Dick Cepek) Based on my luck with the Mickey's, I decided to go with the FCIIs this time around. 30k into them and I got maybe 10% treadwear IF THAT! At this rate, this should be a 100k mile tire for me. Good solid performer too...

Are you running those on the stock rims or some aftermarket ones?? I'm coming up on a tire change in December and have just started the hunt for the next tires. Thanks

I had the Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 07 Ram (Cummins). Different size though, 295/70-17.

Great tires, quiet, handle well, and still had more than 50% life left in them at 23K miles.

Slight shimmy? That does not sound good, in fact is that the tire that is causing that. Can some one explain if I will feel this from any of the 3 tires.
